Sirius black was born on the 3rd of November 1959 to a witch and wizard. He had a younger brother called Regulus, and his family owned a house elf called kreacher. Everyone in his family were pure bloods and Slytherins and they thought that pure bloods were better than everyone else. Also, they supported Voldermort. Sirius was the only one who didn’t think this. As he grew older, Sirius and his family fell out and he hated them. He hated everything about his family and 12 Grimmauld place (his house). 

When he was 11, he went to Hogwarts. He was very excited about this, so he could get away from his family and have some friends. On the train, he met a boy called James Potter and they became best friends. They did everything together. There were 2 other people in the carriage -a red haired girl and a greasy and black haired boy. They appeared to know each other. The boy, who’s name was Severus Snape, was talking about how he wanted to be in Slytherin.  "Who wants to be in Slytherin? I think I'd leave, wouldn't you?" James asked Sirius. Sirius did not smile.

"My whole family has been in Slytherin," he said.

"Blimey," said James, "and I thought you seemed all right!"

Sirius grinned.

"Maybe I'll break the tradition. Where are you heading, if you've got the choice?"

James lifted an invisible sword.

"'Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart!' Like my dad."

Snape made a small, disparaging noise. James turned on him.

"Got a problem with that?"

"No," said Snape, though his slight sneer said otherwise. "If you'd rather be brawny than brainy--"

"Where're you hoping to go, seeing as you're neither?" interjected Sirius.

James roared with laughter. The girl, whose name was Lily Evans, sat up, rather flushed, and looked from James to Sirius in dislike.

"Come on, Severus, let's find another compartment."

They got to Hogwarts, but before they could do anything, they needed to be sorted into their houses. Sirius was the first person to be called to put the sorting hat on and it put him in Gryffindor. Then Lily and James were put in Gryffindor too. 2 more people were also put in Gryffindor and became Sirius and James’s best friends. They were called Remus Lupin and Peter Petigrue. Finally, Snape was put into Slytherin.
