In James’s 7th year, he started to go out with Lily. Once they left school, they got a house together, got married and had a baby called Harry Potter, but in that moment in time, Voldemort was very powerful and found out that he had to kill Harry if he wanted to survive. Lily and James found out about this and went into hiding by using the fidelius charm so no-one could find them. They made Peter Petigrue secret keeper, and this was their mistake. Peter had been secretly working for Voldemort for the last year or so, so he told Voldemort how to find them. On Halloween night, a year after Harry Potter was born, Voldemort went into their house. James told Lily to run, that he would hold him off, but sadly, Voldemort killed him. He then killed Lily too.

Harry stayed alive though and got rid of Voldemort's powers and defeated him, so James’s son defeated Voldemort forever.
