Lesson #1 Astronomy

Chapter 1

My intro essay :

(please do not copy, u can take some tips from this essay though! I also got a 100% on this essay)

requirements: 200 words minimum

Question:  Describe your experience with astronomy. This can include astronomical events you have witnessed, or what you have learned about astronomy, or your enjoyment of the beauty of the night sky, or more than one of those.  You can also include your experience with the effect of astronomy on magic here on Earth, including astrology.

Start of essay:

Astronomy is such a beautiful subject on the studies of moons, planets, stars and galaxies. Fortunately, I have one of the most amazing astronomical events which was a solar eclipse! I was reading the muggle news and heard that there would be a rare solar eclipse. That was when I decided to go to the best spot recommended on the muggle news and check it out. I was so shocked to see such an amazing phenomenon! The moon and the sun were overlapping each other and it looked like a ring of light which made the earth instantly darker. It lasted for a good one hour before it was over and it was the best sight I have ever seen. After that, I have been fascinated by astronomy and so I started reading up on them!

Some things that I have learnt is that there is an inner solar system and outer solar system. They are separated by the asteroid belt between Jupiter and Mars. There are also over 7000 asteroids in this belt, the largest asteroid being Ceres. It has 25% of the mass of all the other asteroids combined!

There are so many more interesting books I have found from the school library and I haven't started on them, but already can't wait! I will definitely be paying attention during astronomy lessons and enjoying the beautiful solar system through the telescopes.

Other tips:

  • u can use the nasa slides on planets and space

  • read books on astrology from the hogwart library

  • look into star constellations

hope this helped!
