Chapter 4 : Making friends

Chapter 4

In this chapter, you will learn to make friends! This might seem execptionally easy, but people with more of an anti-social character (like me) would find it hard to do so. Fortunately, my sister left her old diary here in her room, so we're in for a treat!

"Dear diary,

I-I-I think I'm in love! I've recently made friends with Ron and Harry, a-and I think I am starting to develop feelings for Ron! Oh no! What am I going to do-"

Oopsies! My apologies, I've got the wrong paragraph. Let's try it again.

"Dear diary,

Today is my first day at Hogwarts. I can't say I'm exactly excited...I barely had friends at the muggle school and I doubt it would be different here at Hogwarts. The good thing is, I was sorted into Gryffindor, the same house as Harry Potter, the boy who lived! I wish I could be friends with him. However, his new friend, Ron Weasley, doesn't seem to like me. He thinks I'm annoying just because I embarrassed him in the Hogwarts Express. It wasn't my fault his brother put a prank on him and gave him some silly spells which did not work at all! Ugh, someone calm me down!"

So over here in this paragraph, we can see that Hermione wants to make friends but she is having trouble doing so. Oh, and btw, you guys can try to summarize this paragraph as a practice!

"Dear diary,

Finally! Today was a scary but thrilling day. I encountered a troll in the washroom! It all started when Ron mocked me for my corrections of his mistakes. "Wingaaaaardium LevioSAR!!!" He said to the famous Harry Potter. I couldn't take it in. I broke into tears as I pushed past the rude boy and headed for the washroom. Then, all of a sudden, when I was wiping my tears off, a gigantic creature burst in! I immediately recognise it from one of the books I had read about trolls. However, being a little afraid as I did not expect it, I let out a scream. The boys must have heard it. Harry and Ron came into the girls' washroom as soon as possible. They fought the troll and after I'd directed Ron to the wand movement of the levitation charm, we defeated the troll. Although, we had got a little scoldings from the professors, I was happy as I knew I had earned myself friendship."

Okay, according to this diary, my sister seem like she appreciates her friendship with the two boys very much. Additional info: (this is what I learnt from Hermione before I took the Hogwarts express) It is alright to be friends with boys, bad assery and bravery are not reserved for boys, and the most important - there are more important things than being clever - friendship and bravery :).

In this chapter, we talked about my sister's "guide" on how she had become part of the golden trio. All you have to do is relax and try to initiate a conversation with others around you. Take it naturally. You will eventually find friends who are true to you.

P.S. Do not make an accident (e.g. burning the grounds) just to get others to save you then become friends.
