Step one to being Hermione is to first know her well. Being her sister, I can assure you that the information I provide here is as accurate as your textbooks are. 

Hermione Jean Granger, not Hermione "Jane" Granger, is a magical student at Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She first appears in HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE as a new student on her way to Hogwarts. After Harry and Ron save her from a mountain troll in the girls' bathroom, she becomes best friends with them and often uses her quick wit, deft recall, and encyclopaedic knowledge to lend aid in dire situations. She is the perfect image of a good student to most readers, however, Professor Snape might just be right, she IS an insufferable know-it-all. People often doesn't appreciate her being nosy and correct people when they're wrong. Although she is not wrong, doing this might result in people turning on her. By doing so, she is being as irritating as annoying.

Thus, as her sister, I would say that to be Hermione Granger, you must be a know-it-all. My sister often reads books that are non-fictional. If you want to be somebody who is knowledgeable, you might want to do so too. You can read the Rune dictionary or the history of magic books. Those are well admired by Hermione. Of course, if you dislike those books, there are alternatives. You might want read some books about fantasy and magic - I love them. Trust me, my sister and I share a resemblance so reading what I prefer might just work as well.
