Essay
Prompt
Write an introduction. Tell me about yourself. What are your expectations for this course? Is there anything you want to see for year one? What do you already know about the subject? Why is Defense Against the Dark Arts important to you? This should be at least 150 words. There will be no penalty for going over the word limit.
Response
In my opinion, Defense Against the Dark Arts is one of the most important classes of Hogwarts. History has shown that young wizards should be able to defend themselves in case of a danger. During the Second Wizarding War, young wizards have played a major role in the outcome of the conflict. Even today, the Wizarding world is still a dangerous place, with dark creatures, and humans sometimes worse than them.
This year, I would like to learn some protective spells. I would also like to study the most common dangerous creatures, and how to protect myself from them. I hope there will be some pratical exercices, since I believe this is the best way to learn quickly. Learning the Patronus spell is the thing I expect the most, even if it will only be discussed in a couple of years. I don't know much about Defense Against the Dark Arts yet, but I look forward to learn about this subject.
