Fred & George
Chapter 3
I had been waiting for the Weasley's to arrive in Harry's room as he waited downstairs. According to Harry, the living room felt tense and he highly advised me not to go near it. So I had rearranged my belongings five times before finally hearing a commotion coming from downstairs. Hurriedly I ran downstairs to see Harry speaking to the fireplace.
"They've got an electric fire," Harry explained to who I presumed was Mr Weasley.
"Really?" said Mr Weasley's voice excitedly. "Eclectic, you say? With a plug? Gracious, I must see that....Let's think...Ouch Ron!"
"What are we doing here? Has something gone wrong?" Ron asked.
"Oh no, Ron," came Fred's voice, very sarcastically. "No, this is exactly where we wanted to end up."
"Yeah, we're having the time of our lives here," said George's muffled voice.
"Boys, boys..." Mr Weasley said vaguely. "I'm trying to think what to do....Yes...only way...Stand back, Harry."
Harry grabbed my arm and retreated us to the sofa. His uncle, however, moved forward.
"Wait a moment!" Mr Dursley bellowed at the fireplace, "What exactly are you going to -"
BANG.
The electric fire shot across the room as the boarded-up fireplace burst outward, revealing Mr Weasley, Fred, George, and Ron in a cloud of rubble and loose chippings.
"That's better," panted Mr Weasley, brushing dust from his long green robes and straightening his glasses. "Ah - you must be Harry's aunt and uncle!"
Mr Weasley began to walk towards Mr Dursley, his hand outstretched. But Mr Dursley backed away, dragging Petunia with him. Words utterly failed to spill out of Vernons mouth. I had to bite my inner cheeks to stop myself from laughing.
Mr Weasley began speaking before he turned to me and said, "Hello Y/n! Haven't seen you in quite a while! Going well I hope!" he then turned to Harry, "Harry! Got your trunks ready?"
"Both mine and Y/n's are upstairs," Harry said, grinning widely.
"We'll get it!" Fred almost immediately said. He winked at Harry and right before him and George left to get our trunks, he turned to me, "Hello Y/n!"
"Hello Fred," I smiled, watching him leave the room. As Mr Weasley began to make conversation with Mr Dursley, Petunia turned to me.
"Y/n! Since you're leaving earlier than.. expected, could you go fetch some grapefruit? As a goodbye gift, of course," she said, waving her hands for me to go.
"Oh.. alright," I said, rushing into the kitchen. I begin cutting the grapefruit and putting it into a plastic container.
"What are you doing?!" Dudley asked.
"Cutting fruit?"
"If my mummy found out! She'd.. she'd yell at you!"
"You're mummy told me to cut the fruit!" I snap, before there was a clunk upstairs and Dudley ran out the kitchen.
"Weirdo," I say under my breath before closing the container and walking into the living room.
Fred was picking up spilled candy and George was trying his hardest not to laugh. I furrowed my brows but didn't bother asking what they were planning. Once Fred disappeared in the emerald flame, Mr Weasley turned to George.
"Right then, George," said Mr Weasley, "you and the trunks."
I watched as Harry helped George carry the trunks into the fire before George yelled "the Burrow" and disappeared.
"Y/n, you next," Mr Weasley said. I walked into the fireplace before shouting "the Burrow" and disappeared.
I wobble around before catching my balance and walk into the Burrow.
"Y/n dear! Oh how great it is to see you! I really wish you would've come to spend Christmas with us last year!" Mrs Weasley says as she pulls me into a tight hug.
"It's good to see you too!" I grin.
"You're trunk is in Ginny's room," Mrs Weasley smiles as Ron appears behind me, stifling his laughs.
As I run up the stairs towards Ginny's room, a door swings open.
"Not going to hug us hello, Y/n?" George says, leaning against the door frame, Fred smirking behind him.
"Not until you tell me what you two did," I say, looking from George to Fred.
"Whatever are you talking about?" Fred asks.
"The spilling of sweets? And somehow being when the Dursley family is on a diet?" I say, putting my hand on my hips.
"How were we supposed to know?" George smiles innocently.
"Who else would Harry have gotten his stash of food from?"
"Hermione," Fred says.
"Sirius," George continues.
"Hagrid," Fred finshes.
"Alright! Alright! I believe -"
"FRED GIDEON WEASLEY! YOU COME DOWNSTAIRS THIS INSTANCE! YOU TOO GEORGE! NOW!" Mrs Weasley's voice booms.
"Guess we have to go," George says, rushing down the stairs.
"I'll talk to you later Y/n," Fred smiles, following his twin right after.
"Y/n!" Harry laughs, fumbling up the stairs, "Dudley's tongue! It was longer than Uncle Vernon's foot!"
"What?"
"The toffee Fred dropped! It made his tongue grow!"
"What?"
"Yeah! It looked really uncomfortable too!"
"I am so talking to Fred after this," I grumble.
"Okay! See you later, I'm gonna go to Ron's room," Harry says.
"See you," I smile before running down the stairs.
"I am VERY disappointed in you both!" Mrs Weasley barked at the rather glum looking twins.
"It was just a joke, mum." Fred grumbles, retreating his eyes from his mother towards the stairs, and then me.
"Yeah! We meant no harm! The kid's a bullying git!" George says a little louder.
"That is NO way to treat anyone!" Mrs Weasley shouts, "To your room! Now!"
Fred begins to walk towards and pass me, a doleful look on his face. Then George. I follow behind them until I'm inside their room.
"You two are idiots! Why would you -" I begin before Fred cuts me off.
"If your gonna scold us aswell you can just get out."
Normally Fred would joke about my scolding, but he seemed to be hurt by it this time.
"I'm sorry Fred," I say gently, sitting beside him, "I didn't know getting scolded would hurt you this bad."
Fred shakes his head, "Mum wants us to work in the ministry."
I nod my head, "Well, if that's where you wish to work - "
"It's where MUM wishes us to work," George says.
"She burned our order forms," Fred adds, face planting his face into his palms.
"Oh..I'm sorry," I say, hesitantly stroking Fred's back.
"She took all our toffees, each one of them, threw them away. Those took ages to make!" George says, frowning.
"What were the order forms for?" I ask.
"Our joke shop," Fred says.
"Oh," I whisper, almost to myself. Fred and George had always spoken to me about their joke shop, but I always thought that they were merely joking.
"Look, Y/n, I think it's best if you just leave the two alone." Hermione says, while braiding Ginny's hair.
"They'll be back to their jolly old selves by dinner," Ginny smiles.
"I just don't want them to be upset during the World Cup," I grumble into Ginny's bed.
"They won't. I promise." Ginny says.
"Let's enjoy reading! I brought some books from home," Hermione smiles, as she finishes braiding Ginny's hair.
"That's boring!" Ginny yells, grabbing a pillow from her bed and tossing it on Hermione.
"Ouch!" Hermione squeals, picking it up and chasing the red haired girl.
I watch them and smile, before slipping out of the room and towards the kitchen.
"Mrs Weasley! Is there anything I can help you with?" I ask.
"Oh no, dear! Go and enjoy your time here," the plump woman smiles.
"If that's what you ask of me," I smile, trudging back up the stairs. Suddenly I stop, I'm at Fred and George's room. I had left when Hermione called me to help her pick out her clothes, but now I could come back in, if that's what the twin's wanted.
"Come on Freddie! Y/n wouldn't want you to be sulking right now!" George says, patting his brother on the back. Quietly I step towards the crack in the door.
"I don't care what Y/n thinks." Fred snaps coldly, making me frown.
"Of course you do! Your just in an uptight and grumpy mood! Look at me! I'm fine now!"
"I don't care what she thinks." Fred snaps again, making me back away from the door and step on a creaking floorboard, before running up the stairs.
