Chapter 30

You decide that despite the courage he has shown, Harry is still too young to be told that he must eventually either kill or be killed.

In his fourth year at Hogwarts, Harry once again shows his mettle.  This year Hogwarts is to play host to students from two other schools of magic, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, and a champion from each school is to be chosen by the Goblet of Fire to participate in a dangerous contest called the TriWizard Tournament.  After choosing the three champions, the Goblet inexplicably spits out Harry's name as well, in spite of the fact that Harry is three years too young to participate.  Much to everyone's surprise, Harry performs so well that he could have won the tournament had he not played fair with his competitors.  As it is, he ties for first place with the other Hogwarts champion, Cedric Diggory, captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, who last year caught the Snitch after Harry had fainted from a Dementor attack and fallen off his broom.  Harry suggests that they grab the TriWizard Cup together, which they do.  It turns out to be a Portkey; it transports them to a graveyard hundreds of miles away, where they hear someone approaching them.

That someone is none other than Peter Pettigrew, carrying a tiny Voldemort with him.  On Voldemort's orders Peter kills Cedric, and then ties Harry up, draws his blood, adds it to a potion he brewed and dunks Voldemort in it.  Voldemort emerges from the potion with his body restored, summons his other Death Eaters and then challenges Harry to a duel.  Harry escapes, grabs Cedric's body and the Cup and gets transported back to Hogwarts, but his troubles are not over yet.  Professor Moody, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, takes Harry into his office.  Your suspicions aroused, you follow them and find Moody pointing his wand at Harry.  You cast the Stunning Jinx on Moody and then discover that he is a Death Eater who disguised himself as Moody, turned the Cup into a Portkey, put Harry's name into the Goblet and guided Harry to victory in the Tournament!  Harry tells you about his encounter with Voldemort, and you realize that the fight you led some thirteen years ago must be renewed.
