Draco Malfoy: The Boy that was Never Enough

Chapter 1

I feel kinda bad for Draco, in multiple ways but I’m just gonna focus on one. Imagine his expectations for Hogwarts. He probably expects to be the most popular and famous kid there. His father is rich and famous, so the kids at Hogwarts would have to know his name. But he gets there and all anyone talks about is Harry Potter, the boy who lived. Draco was so used to be the important one, now some muggle raised orphan kid is all anyone talks about. As the years went by, nothing really changed. The papers eventually started calling Potter “the Chosen One.” Yeah the kid was good, but some sixteen year old boy couldn’t defeat the greatest dark wizard of all time. But still, the word chosen was still ringing in Draco’s ears. So when the Dark Lord approached him, telling Draco that he had chosen him for a mission, how could Draco resist? One because it was the Dark Lord, and two because he was chosen for something. Draco felt like he had a chance to find a group of people he could possibly fit in with. Crabbe and Goyle were too dumb. They made great minions, but not friends. Parkinson was annoying, Draco wasn’t fond of her either. The Dark Lord offered Draco a job without telling him what it was though. After Draco received the Dark Mark, then You-Know-Who told Draco his mission. Draco didn’t realize how fond he had become of the old muggle lover headmaster Dumbledore. Draco didn’t honestly want to kill him, but he had accepted the Dark Mark, so he had no choice. His father was also in some trouble with the Dark Lord, so Draco would have to complete his mission, or his family could face the consequences. Draco also wanted to make his father proud. His father still treated him like a child, Draco wanted to prove he was more. Another reason to complete this job from the Dark Lord. But Dumbledore had done so much for him. Even as Draco was pointing his wand at the old wizard, Dumbledore still offered to help. Draco was responsible for Professor Dumbledore’s death. He was the one that trapped him at the top on the Astronomy Tower. If he hadn’t done that, Dumbledore would still be alive. And that means many others that died in that battle would have lived, including Fred Weasley. Seeing George’s face when he saw his brother lying on that cot is an image he will never forget. Even Ron, who Draco didn’t get along with, had a facial expression Draco would never forget. He felt terrible for all of it. All Draco ever wanted was to be chosen by someone for something important.
