Lesson Two: Beetles & Buttons Study Guide

Chapter 3

When transforming creatures, you are accountable for the survival of the creature. All creatures will transfigure back into themselves because of the force of nature. Willpower is the most important when dealing with animate creatures. When animals get frightened, they use their flight or fight sense to determine the best chance at surviving the encounter.

Beetles

Beetles are tiny, vary in size & are simple creatures. Ground beetles are insects that eat their prey. They are found everywhere except the polar area & the sea. These beetles have a head, thorax, abdomen, & six legs. They also have an exoskeleton & two pairs of wings; one to protect their body, & one to fly.

Buttons

Buttons are small objects that are used in clothing & for decorating. There are shank, sew-through, & snap types. Most are round, but some can be sqaure. They can be made out of plastic, wood, metal, or shell.

Spell

Andre Geronimo couldn't keep the buttons on his vest. He created this spell so that he didn't have to buy anymore buttons. It often comes in handy with the Matchstick to Needle Transfiguration spell. Visualize the beetle altering into a button. If this spell fails, the button will have legs & can crawl.
