Chapter Two: Childhood
Chapter 2
Harry was raised by a loving aunt and uncle, his mother's sister and brother-in-law. When the Dursleys were interviewed about Harry's childhood, I uncovered a startlingly dark side of the famed Boy Who Lived. Vernon Dursley, Harry's uncle, put it best.
'Harry used his abnormalities--er--magic--to torment our son. From the time we took him in, he began using his influence on Dudley (Harry's cousin) to control him. Once, he even set a snake on Dudley and his friend, Piers."
I questioned Petunia Dursley further on how Harry lived his first decade. "He had quite a frightful attitude, was always in trouble at school, and completely terrified Dudley. From looking at him, you'd never imagine the things he's done to us."
Perhaps Harry Potter isn't really the valiant hero we've always thought him to be. Perhaps Harry Potter's rumored destruction of the Dark Lord was for his own gain. For more information on possible sinister motivations, go to chapter seventeen.
I asked Dudley Dursley about the day Harry recieved his Hogwarts letter. "The first one came in the mail," Dudley told me. "He tried to open it in secret, but Dad told him off and burned it. The next day, more came. Then more and more, until finally they were flooding into the house from the chimney and windows, even under the door. Dad took us away from home, and we slept one night on a little rock out in the sea.
"We stayed in this tiny cottage, I had to sleep on the couch, and then suddenly there was a huge 'BOOM'! Then a giant busted down the door. Dad tried to ward him off with a gun, but the oaf just twisted it up. He gave Harry a cake, and told him he was going to Hagforts.
"Dad tried to stop him, but in the morning he and the giant were gone. We went back home, hoping Harry wouldn't come back. But he came back that evening, with a load of books, magic school junk, and a live owl."
From this I deduce that Rubeus Hagrid, metioned in the first chapter, took Harry from his aunt and uncle without their permission, for whatever motivation a half-giant could have. We can also see that Harry intruded on the Dursleys' hospitality, and forced them to go to great measures for him.
