Chapter One: Origins
Chapter 1
On July 31, 1981, a boy was born to Lily and James Potter of Godric's Hollow. From the time of his birth, Harry was known to have extraordinary magical ability. According to neighbor Athena Weasley, Harry was able to 'summon toys and various objects from about the house'. It becomes clear that Harry's power was what aided him in destroying the Dark Lord.
The Potter family lived in peace for a while, but soon rumors spread that the Dark Lord was pursuing them. Famed murderer and Azkaban-escapee Sirius Black advised his friend, James, to put a Fidelius charm over the location of the Potter home. Black was made secret-keeper, and promptly delivered the information of the Potters' location to the Dark Lord himself.
On Halloween, He Who Must Not Be Named arrived at the Potters' home. James tried to flee, abandoning his wife and child, but was murdered by You Know Who before he could make his escape. Lily agreed with the Dark Lord that if she was killed, Harry would be spared. As soon as Lily was out of the way, the Dark Lord tried to break his word.
Through Harry's amazing magical abilities, he protected himself from the Killing Curse. Once he had saved himself, Harry turned offensive and destroyed You Know Who by undiscovered magical means. He also accidentally set his home on fire.
The half-giant gamekeeper of Hogwarts School, Rubeus Hagrid, tried to kidnap the baby Harry. Luckily, the professors and headmaster of Hogwarts were able to persuade Hagrid to deliver Harry to his muggle relatives, the Dursleys. There, in peace, Harry lived until he was rediscovered by the Wizarding world at age eleven.
