Tess Falcon; First Year At Hogwarts {Finished Book}

written by Faye Chuchoter

Nonoahohay Falcon was not a normal person. Normal people aren't born with a wizard for a dad and a mermaid for a mum, witches that get invited to a magical school, get a wand at a wizarding shop, have a godmother that can change her looks at will, can't talk to snakes or are related to the greatest known Dark wizard of all time. Nonoahohay (or Tess) has no idea of the challenges and hardships she will face as she goes through her first year at Hogwarts.

The Journey To Hogwarts

Chapter 6

I followed him to a really big and pretty lake, and he boomed, "Four to a boat!  On'y four to a boat, now!"  Ginny Weasley, Quinn Stakin (the muggle-born girl), Sarah Reed, and I all went in one boat.  Abigail Wright had many options of where to sit, most were filled with boys, and since our boat was full, she sat with one of them.  We went across the beautiful lake, and in a cavern we got out of the boats and went up a long flight of stairs.  At the end, we, the first years and the giant, were under the shadow of the castle.

I saw some carriages parked.  There was no horses.  I assumed they were put into their stalls.  The giant raised his big fist and knocked on one of the big front doors.  A women answered.  She was old and wrinkled, tall and skinny, and she looked really strict, with her glasses on the edge of her nose, and a bun in her graying hair.  She looked at us, saying, "Yes, thank you Hagrid.  I will take them from there.  First years, follow me."  We crowded into the castle eagerly.

We were in a GIGANTIC hall, and I am not lying when I said gigantic!  It was as big as a small house!  We tiptoed after the old woman, for it felt wrong to break the silence.  Then there was an interruption by the old woman.  "This is the Entrance Hall. I am Professor McGonagall, a teacher here at Hogwarts.  Follow me, now."  We obeyed the teacher.  She led us out of the hall, and we passed by a big door that was erupting with noise.

We arrived in a small chamber, and waited there while she explained to us about the four houses (Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Griffindor, and Slytherin), how Hogwarts will be like our home, where we eat, sleep, and have classes, and how we are about to be tested to see what house we are in.  Then she left.

"Test?  What kind of test?"  Everyone around me whispered.  Ginny said, "We're putting on a talking hat that can read minds, and he tells us which house is right for us.  Ravenclaw is smart, Hufflepuff is kind, Gryffindor is brave, and Slytherin is cunning.  My oldest brother Bill told me all about it."

Then a pale girl with a pointed face and white-blond hair stepped up.  She looked right at Ginny and said, "No, Hufflepuffs are duffers, and Slytherin is the best one you can get.  I think that Ravenclaw is OK to get into.  Gryffindor would only be a slight disappointment.  Everyone in my family is Slytherin.  Dad, mum, Draco...  I'm gonna be in Slytherin, too, I know it.  My wand is a true Slytherin wand.  Who are you, anyways?  I'm Dracine Grace Malfoy.  Also, are you a pureblood?  I am."  I noticed that she opened her mouth really wide whenever she spoke, and said that all in one breath.

"Know-it-all"  I heard Ginny mutter, then said, "Yah, I'm a pureblood.  I'm Ginny.  Ginny Weasley."  Dracine flinched when she heard "Weasley", then stepped balkwards and said in a drawling voice, "You're a Weasley?  Wow.  I've heard all about you of course, blood-traitor."  Ginny stepped forwards, her hands in fists.  "You say that one more time..."  She muttered.

Dracine yelled, stopping everyone's conversations to turn towards them, "BLOOD-TRAITOR!!!!!!!!"  Ginny leaped at her, and next thing I know, was punching and hitting Dracine everywhere.  They rolled towards a group of first-year girls.  The girls screamed and scattered.

Then Professor McGonagall entered and they quickly got to their feet.  Ginny had a cut lip and a bloody nose, and Dracine had a black eye and a chipped tooth that was bleeding everywhere.  With a few complicated movements of her wand, the chipped tooth stopped bleeding and the chipped part grew back, the black eye had gone, the blood stopped flowing from Ginny's nose, and the cut part of her lip was gone.  My mouth dropped open.

the professor said, "If you do that, or anything like that, points will be taken from your house, like I talked about.  However, you aren't sorted yet, so I cant take away any points.  You won't be so lucky in the future.  We are ready for your sorting follow me."
