Tess Falcon; First Year At Hogwarts {Finished Book}

written by Faye Chuchoter

Nonoahohay Falcon was not a normal person. Normal people aren't born with a wizard for a dad and a mermaid for a mum, witches that get invited to a magical school, get a wand at a wizarding shop, have a godmother that can change her looks at will, can't talk to snakes or are related to the greatest known Dark wizard of all time. Nonoahohay (or Tess) has no idea of the challenges and hardships she will face as she goes through her first year at Hogwarts.

Diagon Alley

Chapter 3

I invited her in.  We sat down in the living room.  My dad was cleaning the basement with my granny.  Mum was talking with Mrs. Hubirta.  "What's your name?" I asked.  That was a great conversation starter.  I learned that she had a long name, like me; it was Nymphadora.  We both went by different names, too.  Her name is Tonks.  She could change the way she looked!!!!!  It was awesome!  Whenever I brought up the subject, she seemed a bit uncomfortable, though.  I also learned she was my godmother.  It was AWESOME!!!!!

Then we went to my mum's office.  Tonks told her that she will be bringing me to this place called Diagon Alley.  My mum approved, with some hesitation.  Even though she knew Tonks, she didn't recognize her.  Tonks muttered something about how our fireplace was temporarily on the Floo Network, and she then went over to the fireplace in mum's office, lit it, and through dust in it.  The dust made the fire TURN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!! Then she told me to step in and say, "Diagon Alley" loud and clear.  She followed her own instructions, and vanished.  I stepped in and shouted "Diagon Alley!"  All of a sudden, everything around me started to spin.

I stumbled, coughing, out of the fireplace into Tonks's arms.  I looked around.  Why, I was in a small pub!  It was called the Leaky Cauldron.  I told Tonks it wasn't a very good name, and she laughed.  There was a man named Tom at the bar.  We went to the back, and Tonks took out her wand and tapped the wall, AND IT MOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!

We entered through the hole Tonks created in the wall, and I stepped into a huge street with lots of buildings on either side.  The furthest away building that I could see was a pearly white one, and Tonks told me we were going there first.  I looked everywhere.  The alley was so interesting!  I knew this was Diagon Alley.  We got to the place, and Tonks said, "Welcome to Gringotts." Inside was a place run by goblins with sharp, pointy teeth and pointy ears.  They were very short and I didn't like them much.  A goblin named Brimloot led Tonks and I to a cart.  Tonks stepped in, and so I did, too.  We went along a tunnel so fast, Tonks turned green, then purple, then red, then she turned as white as a ghost and by this time, we were very deep in the earth.

Just when I was starting to wonder when we'd ever stop, Brimloot suddenly stopped the cart, and Tonks and I were jolted forward.  He took out a bell-thingie, and motioned for us to follow him into a chamber.  In the chamber was a DRAGON!  I was overcome by some weird feeling and I stepped forwards.  Brimloot yelled, "NO!" and pulled me back.  After we went to my own personal high-security vault, then Tonks and I left Gringotts and went to a place called Ollivanders.  I came in and an old man said, "Ah, I was expecting you..."  I replied, "Er, thanks Mr. Oliveandar."

Then I found out his name was Ollivander, and he went and got a small wand for me.  I tried it out.  Nothing happened.  I tried out nearly all of the wands in the shop that day, until he finally got a golden box.  I leaned forward curiously, fell of my chair, and got up again, blushing.  He opened the box and told me that this wand is hornbeam with phoenix feather core, twelve and a quarter inches, and surprisingly swishy.  It also is pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to break, and makes it a lot easier to do spells than it should be for the master.  It also always sticks withit's first master, never working at all for any other.  I tried it out, while thinking it, like all the others, will do nothing, but when I brought it down, a Phoenix came out of the end, all silvery and transparent.  Slowly it faded away.  I heard him mutter, "A Patronus Charm!  Well, she and the wand are definitely a perfect match, both being very talented." I then paid my money, seven galleons and walked out of the shop.

We went to lots of other AMAZING shops, and Tonks bought me my very own pet owl!  She can fit in my fist!  I named her Gimima.  I got all of the stuff on the list, and I bought Tonks a ginger cat.  She named her Ginger.  Then we went back to the Leaky Cauldron, and bought shakes there.  We sipped the Oreo shakes, thinking.  then Tonks said, "Oh, I almost forgot, here.  It is your ticket to Platform 9 and 3/4."  I took the ticket.  "Thanks."  I murmured breathlessly.  We went over to the pub's fireplace once we finished our shakes, and put the Floo Powder in the roaring fire.

We said my address, and Tonks and I stumbled out into my mum's office.  It was empty.  Tonks got ready to leave then said, "I'll contact you with my owl over the summer.  OK?"  I nodded, and gave her a hug.  I told her that this was the best day of my life.  She smiled, then stepped into the fire and said, something I couldn't hear. I went and told my mom that I was back, then went to bed and fell asleep, because it was already nighttime.
