I soon knew that Harry had gotten the message, because later that day, the dwarf caught up to Harry in front of a large group of first years.  "Oy, you! 'Arty Potter!  I've got a musical message to deliver to 'Arry Potter in person," the dwarf said, twanging his harp.  Harry snarled, "Not here!"  "Stay still!"  "Let me go!"  A loud ripping noise drew everyone's attention as Harry's bag split in half.  His stuff fell out, and his ink bottle smashed and spilled all over everything.  Ginny gasped.

Harry tried to pick it all up.  Draco came over to the scene and said, "What's going on here?"   Percy, Ginny's brother arrived, saying, "What's all this commotion?"  

Harry tried to run away, but the dwarf grabbed his knees and Harry was sprawled on the floor.  "Right," it said, sitting on Harry's ankles. "Here is your singing valentine:  His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad, His hair is as dark as a blackboard. I wish he was mine, he's really divine, The hero who conquered the Dark Lord."  Everyone started to laugh as Harry got up.  Percy yelled, "Off you go, off you go, the bell rang five minutes ago, off to class, now, and you, Malfoy-"  Ginny turned as pale as a ghost.  

I looked at Draco, and he held Riddle's diary.  I stared, horrified.  Harry whispered, "Give that back."  I wanted to tell them it was Ginny's in the first place, but Draco said, "Wonder what Potter's written in this?" A hush fell over the crowd. Ginny stared at the diary, then to Harry, looking terrified.  I wanted to put my arm around her shoulder, but I was frozen.  Percy said, "Hand it over, Malfoy,"  

Draco waved the diary at Harry, and I realized how much he hated Harry.  "When I've had a look."  Percy lectured, "As a school prefect -" Harry lost his temper, pulled out his wand and yelled, "Expelliarmus!" Riddle's diary shot towards Hary, and a grinning Ron caught it. Percy said loudly, "Harry!  No magic in the corridors.  I'll have to report this, you know."  Draco yelled, "I don't think Potter liked your valentine much!"  Ginny covered her face with her hands and ran into class.

I glared at Draco, mouthing as terrifyingly as I could, "Meet me after your classes over by the lake."  Draco's sneer slid off his face.  He nodded, looking rather scared, then walked away.  I glared at him until he was out of sight, then ran into the classroom after Ginny.  I sat next to her and wrote on a small parchment, 

I'm really, really, really, really so sorry, Ginny.  I promise bet Harry thought he had not time to listen to any valentines, and wanted to hear it later.  It wasn't very nice of Draco to say that, but he was probably just having a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad bad day.  He didn't mean it.  Please forgive him.  I know you're really sad now, and now Harry stole has Riddle's diary.  We have to find a way to steal take get it back.  Maybe we can get into his dorm right now after class tonight tomorrow. All I know is that you've got tons of secrets in there, and we don't want him knowing that!  Please see me by the lake right after a couple of hours after your classes are done.

I put the note in Ginny's bag and listened to Professor Binns tell of ghost wars.  After all of our classes were over, I sung to Ginny, "There's something in your ba-ag!  Go-otta go!"  Then rushed towards the lake.  Nearly half an hour had passed before Draco came.
