Chapter 3
Concentration
- Centering your mind and centering your spell's effects on the target in order for the spell to work
- Not crucial in every spell
- You can not avoid if the spell requires it
- Mind must be relatively clear
Spell Modifiers
- Different behaviour depending on what modifiers you use
- A modifier is a word or short phrase added to the end of a spellto modify the target or effect
Sunlight Charm
- Steady half-decent light
- Incantation: Lumos Solem
- Pronunciation: LOO-mos so-LEM
- Wand movement:A single counter-clockwise loop ending with the wand pointing towards the target
- Willpower: Low to high
- Concentration: High
- The amount of willpower determines how powerful the effect is
- Requires concentration to precisely target the beam and keep the spell from simply flickering out after cast
- The beam range in intensity from a faint whitelike a flashlight to a brilliant golden yellow at its maxium
- Care must be taken, a beam to intense can damage your vision and the vision of others
- Never point the spell directly to your face or the face of others
- Practice ability to concentrate
- If you cast the spell are not concentrating enough the spell will fade out
- Only last 5 to 6 seconds
The Dancing Lights Charm
- Smaller, floating beams of light
- Great for concentrating on mutiple things at once
- Incantation: Lumos Numerosa
- Pronunciation: LOO-mos Noom-air-O-sa
- Wand movement: Single counter-clockwise loop followed by several rapid counter-clockwise loops
- Willpower: None
- Concentration: High
- Must concentrate on each orb
- Only about a dozen at a time
- Keep them clustered together so they are easier to move
