Chapter 2

Wand Properties

  • Ash wand - Good at casting defensive charms

  • Phoenix tail feathers - Vertasile and might act on accord

  • Four paramaters - length, flexibilty, wood and core.

  • Wands are usually nine and fourteen inches

  • Wands shorter than this usually only select a user in whose character something is lacking

  • Wands longer than this usually select a user with a physical peculiarity that demands the excessive length

  • Flexibilitly or rigidity speaks to the decree of adaptiblity and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-onwer pair.

  • Wands contain one wood

  • Using mutliple would naturally create tension that would to a wand with greatly dimished power

  • A wand's core is always made of a part of another magical being

  • Main three core types are unicorn tail hair, dragon heartstring and phoenix feather

  • Other materials have been used such as kelpie mane, veela hair, troll whisker, dittany stalk or kneazle whisker

  • If one of the other materials (listed above) has been used either has insufficent power or has a considerable drawback

  • Veela hair produces wands that are tempremental

  • Only one core in a wand

Wand movement

  • Wand movement is one of the most essential components of any successfully cast spell

  • Most spells require a wand motion

  • Almost all targeted spells require that your wand be pointed to the target after wand movement

  • Some spells require a swish, some a flick, while others both. Some simply require a jab of your wand while others may require a wave, or many waves

Magical Limatations

  • Each spell has intricacy

  • For every spell you must remember the precise words, wand movement, if necessary direct the magic to the proper target, concentrate on the correct thoughts, feelings and desires and even then you may need sufficient power

  • Forgetting or neglecting a single detail could be ruinous

The Mending Charm

  • It was created in 1754 by Orabella Nuttley

  • The spell became famous when she used it to repair the Colosseum

  • Reparo (pronounced reh-PAH-roh)

  • Wand movement: Inward pointed spiral, conutined until the object is fully repaired

  • Can repair most mundane

The Unlocking Charm

  • Originated in Africa

  • Alohomora (pronounced al-LOH-ha-MOR-ah)

  • Wand movement: Backwards 'S' curving up at the end
