1. Monica sat beneath a dark oak tree on the great lawn. She wasn't doing anything imparticular, just enjoying the oddly warm autumn weather. The light breeze messed with her dark brown hair, which was out of it's usual ponytail. Her white-rimmed glasses slid down her nose as she studied the grass, her bright blue eyes scanning the ground for strange looking insects. Her orange sweater was loose around her shoulder and she started messing with her black converse, tightening and untightening the laces. A group of boys were stumbling and laughing as they exited the castle, as though they had been making fun of something or someone. They caught sight of Monica, who was now trying to braid blades of grass together, and sauntered over towards her. "Hey! Is that who I think it is...? No, it couldn't be." One of the boys muttered sarcastically. Another boy chimed in. "You know what? I think it is! Matthew!" He called to Monica. She looked up instinctively, her face blank. "Wooo! What happened, Mat..? Your, like, actually kind of NOT ugly now!" The first boy said and the other one high-fived him, a look of satisfaction on his face. Monica scowled. "It's MONICA, you bastard." She said angerly. "Hmmm...not last time I checked, MAT." The first boy said again. "And what's up with that attitude? I think you need to go back to manners class. John? Would you like to teach the first lesson?" The first boy pulled Monica to her feet from behind by the shoulders and the second boy, John, kneed Monica in the stomach. She gasped and fell back to the ground. The first boy laughed. "Andrew, you son of a bitch." Monica growled as she tried to stand up. John punched her in the face, breaking her glasses, and she fell back. She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she thought she saw another figure approaching.
