Hermione was woken up the next morning by an owl that had flown into her room. She got up, untied the letter from its leg, then gave it a treat. the letter read 

 Dear Ms.Granger, 

      We are pleased to be able to welcome you back for your 7th year at Hogwarts this coming September  1st. Also Congratulations, I have decided to make you this years Head Girl. Below is a list of supplies you will need for the coming year as well as the prefects. Please meet me in my compartment after you board the Hogwarts express so that I may discuss the coming year with both you and the Head Boy.

         Hermione ran out the door, down the stairs, and straight into the kitchen to tell her parents the news. "That is wonderous sweet heart," her mother exclaimed as her father read the letter. "Our little Hermione, Head Girl, " her father replied after finishing the letter," we're so proud of you dear." "thanks mum and dad, do think after breakfast I can go to the burrow and start shopping for school supplies with Ginny?" "Of course honey." So Hermione at a few strawberry pancakes, got dress, then apparated to the burrow. There she found Ron and Lavender sitting on the couch cuddling. As soon as Lavender saw Hermione she ran and gave her a giant hug. Hermione was taken aback by the gesture but was even more surprised by what Lavender said next. " Hermione you truly are the best. thank you for letting me and Won-Won be together." Then she ran  back to Ron leaving Hermione standing there dumb-folded. Ron and Lavender smiled at each other then at Hermione. Afterwards they went up to Ron's room probably to snog the life out of each other without making Hermione unconfortable. When they were out of sight Hermione tried her best to stay strongand put on a brave face. "Mione,"  Ginny asked from the table. "Yes  Gin." "You alright." "Yeah, I think I'm gonna be ok." "So you both ready to go to Diagon ally," Harry asked. "Yeah, oh and Mione did you get you letter. I'm going to be a prefect this year."" I know cause I'm Head Girl." "What," Ginny said as she hugged her best friend," That's amazing, who is Head Boy?" "I don't know I'll find out later but first let's go!" 

        Even though neither him nor Ron were going back that school year Harry insisted on coming incase they ran into trouble which was very unlikely. Both Ginny and Hermione had become well known and respected witches since the war but they decide to put poor Harry to good use, by letting him carry almost everything. First they went to Ollivander's to get Hermione a new wand since she was still use Beatrix's. She tried a silver wand with a emerald on the bottom and a phoenix feather core but it made the vase exploded. Then Hermione tried a brown oakwood wand with a rose carved in the middle with real leaves growing on the carved vines, and a unicorn hair core. The second Hermione touched the wand the room lit up and she knew it was the one. After purchasing most of their school supplies which only poor Harry was carrying the went over to George's joke shop. They stopped and stood in silence when the saw Fred's plaque. When the entered the shop  George greeted them with a hearty smile. When they left the joke shop Hernione and Ginny decide to help Harry carry the supplies. Because Hermione was carrying a stack of books she couldn't see were she was going and bumped into someone. Hermione had fallen to the ground and her books were scattered around her. At first she didn't recognize who she had bumped into but she soon would. "Oh no Granger are you ok, I'm so  sorry I wasn't looking." She looked up and it was non other then Draco Malfoy!

        She couldn't believe it Draco Malfoy was helping her up, apologizing, and he hadn't called her a mudblood once! It was the same Malfoy that tormented her end her friends and called her a muudblood for over 6 years, the one she punched  in her 3rd year, and the death eater responsible for the deaths of Dumbledore and countless others including Fred! After Malfoy helped Hermione pick up her books he apologized again and took his leave. Harry and Ginny had stood awestruck watching Malfoy help Hermione. After left Ginny asked what's up with him. "I don't know," Hermione said a bit confused. "He seemed different somehow," Harry replied trying to figure out what had just happened. "Well," Ginny said changing the subject,"  we have more supplies to buy so let's get a move on." Throughout the rest of the day until she went to bed that night Hermione couldn't stop thiking about how strange Malfoy had acted. She didn't blame him entirely for the war she hd to admit he had pressured by both his parents and voldermort but she didn't forgive him either. Even when she had fallen asleep Hermione wondered if Draco Malfoy had really changed or if it was just an act?
