I Thought Careless:
Chapter 3
Is it right to want
to hold just a fraction of your
mind for a fraction of a second?
I must keep it sound, just as it keeps me. Beautiful,
beautiful thing. Deniably subtle.
Carry my wrists to your devilish door,
my feet might as well follow.
I stubbed a toe on a corner of the past, I missed,
trying for your delicate ankles.
I could catch you in a reverie if I tried, but I don’t care
for sorry glances. The notes in your back pocket are of
seamless melody. You told me
rightness is relative to wrong.
I thought it could.
Pinkies in pinkies and our spines fit together. Spinning and
spinning until the night comes inside. The moon,
our friend, offers tickets to bliss. Oblige.
You’ve ridden the moon before. You told me
she loved you.
I thought so too.
*authors note: I submitted this one to a poetry contest and won a scholarship lol.
