MAGIZOOLOGY- the Kneazle
mclaren port huron
Welcome to the magizoological corner! Today we'll be introducing you to another one of the amazing magical creatures of our wizarding world, and also covering an individual related to that species. Our animal today is... the Kneazle! Kneazles are magical felines with exceptional intelligence and of which grow to be comparatively bigger than the non-magical cat. Sometimes they are said to resemble a lynx physically, yet really do have a unique appearance, making them easy to recognise and identify. A Kneazle's levels of intellect extend to actually being able to detect a witch or wizard's true character. Kneazles are often bred with non-magical cats, producing a feline half-magical and half-mundane.
FUN FACT: Did you know Arabella Figg bred Kneazles with cats? Some of her half-Kneazle felines included Mr Tibbles, Tufty, and Snowy.
One of these interbred felines, a cross between a Kneazle and an ordinary cat, is Crookshanks. Crookshanks was Hermione Granger's pet which she purchased in her third year and took to Hogwarts. A Kneazle's excellent judgement of character was clearly displayed in Crookshanks when he completely mistrusted Scabbers, Ronald Weasley's rat, and of whom proved to actually be Peter Pettigrew in disguise. Even though Mr Pettigrew was in his animagus form, Crookshanks could still sense he was not a genuine rat.
And that concludes our article for today! See you next week!
