Jack had attempted to keep the letter a secret from his family until he made up his mind but somehow his parents found out.
“Why on earth was this hidden inside your room?!” bellowed Mum and Dad. They looked disappointed which was the worst thing Jack could think of.
“I...I was...it somehow...” Jack couldn’t spit the words out. If he was that nervous in front of his parents, how nervous would he be in front of a sergeant?!
“You know we all wanted to go as a family, don’t you?” Mum asked with a giggle.
“Wait WHAT?” yelled Jack a little too loud for inside. “You want to go with me?”
“Of course we do. We knew you had signed up for war and we didn’t want to leave you all alone, so your father and I have decided to come” explained Mum.
“But is Harper coming?” whined Jack. Harper is Jack’s older sister. She is 2 years older than Jack at 17 years old and has beautiful sleek black hair like everyone else in the family.
“Yes dear, Harper is definitely coming. Is that ok?” Dad questioned.
“Does she have to come?” he whined. Ever since Jack was a younger boy, he hated his sister. She would but-in while he was talking and she would tell him he was wrong all the time, call him very rude names and tease him about his clothes.
“Yes Jack, Harper is definitely coming, no excuses. I am not putting up with your annoying sibling nonsense. PERIOD.” Dad shouted 10x louder than normal. Dad had only said it that loud because he was fed up with the two of them fighting all the time. Jack wasn’t pleased by the news he had just been given, however his parents already went down the curved stairs as loud as a herd of giants, before Jack could say anything else.
