I opened it to reveal an owl. My parents were squibs so I knew that my Hogwarts letter was here. I opened it and it read: dear Ms. foreigner, we are pleased to inform you that you have been excepted at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Please find enclosed all necessary books and equipment. Term starts on September 1. The Hogwarts Express leaves Kings Cross station at platform 9 3/4 at 11:00 AM. We await your owl no later than July 31. We look forward to your arrival. Sincerely, Professor Minerva McGonagall. I went downstairs and showed it to my parents. Congratulations! They said. I found the second piece of parchment which contained my school supply list. It read: clothing: three sets of plain Black work robes. One cloak with silver fastenings. One set of dress robes. One set of dragon hide gloves and boots. Books: the standard book of spells grade one. Beginners guide to transfiguration. 1000 magical herbs and fungi. Magical drafts and potions. Magical theory. The dark forces: a guide to self protection. A history of magic. Fantastic beasts and where to find them. Equipment: one wand. One set of Crystal files. One set of brass scales. One brass telescope. Quills, ink, and parchment. Students may bring if they desire a cat, owl, or toad. First year students are reminded that they may not bring their own brooms. I folded the list and went upstairs and wrote a quick reply saying that I would attend. I attached it to the owls leg and it flew out the window. I put my supply list in my nightstand drawer and went to bed that night excited for what is to come.
