Hogwarts Train
Chapter 3
Matilda looked around, very excited. There were so many people bustling around, shouting, running and some even crying, for it was sad to say goodbye. Then with a cry of excitement, Matilda jumped and pointed at a beautiful train, shouting, "Is that the Hogwarts Express?!"
"Yes it is," said Mr Scamander. "It's a very nice train, isn't it?"
Matilda nodded, eyes wide with exhilaration. "And we're gonna ride it!"
At that moment Mrs Scamander, holding Beatrix, with Lizzie and Dora, came up to them. Matilda saw Dora looking very excited. Matilda knew that Dora loved the Hogwarts Express. "There it is!" she shouted excitedly.
Mrs Scamander smiled at Dora. "You love the train, don't you?"
"Of course I do!" said Dora. "Hey - there is Lorcan and Lysander!" She ran forward to them, shouting and waving.
Matilda smiled. Dora liked her cousins, especially Lorcan, who loved to read. Matilda liked them too, of course. She thought it was funny that they believed in Nargles and things like that. That was because their mother had always believed in that - she had when she had been a child and still did.
Lorcan and Lysander smiled at their cousins, greeting them, while their parents, Luna and Rolf, went up to Mr and Mrs Scamander to talk.
"Hi, Lorcan, Lysander!" said Matilda. "How are you?"
"We're good, thanks," said Lorcan. "Are you ready to board the train?"
"Well, we're gonna say goodbye first," said Dora.
"Yes, of course," said Lysander. "It's quite sad saying goodbye, isn't it?" He gazed dreamily into the distance, a little frown on his face.
Matilda giggled, then asked, "Did you bring you Kneazle, Lysander?"
Lysander did not answer, but continued staring into the distance.
Lorcan nudged him, saying, "Matilda's talking to you, Lysan."
"Ah, sorry Matilda. What were you saying?" said Lysander.
"I just asked if you had brought your kneazle."
"Ah, my kneazle. Of course I did! I wouldn't go to Hogwarts without Moony!" exclaimed Lysander, looking a little shocked. "Nah, nah. I wouldn't go without him."
"Where is he?" Matilda asked.
"I'll just call him. Moony, moony! Come here, boy!" Lysander called. Suddenly a grumpy but still cute looking kneazle came running up to them. Matilda was surprised. Did Lysander just let him wander around?
"Do you just let him wander around?" asked Matilda, reading aloud her thoughts.
"Well, yes, of course." Lysander looked a little surprised. "I wouldn't keep him trapped in a cage, would I, Lorcan?"
"No, no. Of course not," said Lorcan. "Did you bring any pets?"
"Yes, I brought Midnight - and Toby," said Matilda. She held up her owl cage and a cat cage.
"Oh." Lorcan put his fingers through the bar and let Toby lick them. (Toby was such an affectionate cat - he loved everyone.)
"Yes it is," said Mr Scamander. "It's a very nice train, isn't it?"
