Chapter 4
It was a stormy night when a young wizard set forth on his journey to discover a rare hidden object of great magical power. The Stone of Amorath had long been considered lost, hidden by dark magic long ago. The stone had the power to remove the most dangerous of curses from the most terribly afflicted so the young wizard being the son of a witch who had been hit by a curse in her lung that was proving to be deadly went out in search of the Stone of Amorath, little did he know of the adventures and trials he was soon to undergo.
The young wizard set forth by night so as to insure he was not followed to the destination the Stone was rumored to be housed at. He passed over hills and valleys the rain rushing down from the sky obscuring all light of the moon and the stars. The young wizard, disoriented by the lack of light shouted "Lumos!" and a light erupted at the tip of his wand. As he marched on he would extinguish the light of the wand when he would reach the top of a hill with the word "Nox" in order for him to not give away his position in his quest for the Stone of Amorath.
It was after a deep valley that the young wizard reached a bog which he began to wade through. Not to his surprise he encountered an Imp, a trickster and wicked magical creature. Knowing he had no time to deal with this annoyance he shouted "Verdimillious!" Green sparks erupted from the tip of his wand and distracted the creature allowing for a swift escape for the young wizard.
The green sparks proved to be a hindrance just as much as they had helped. The foreign light awakened an old witch who was also seeking the stone. She was a foul and ugly woman who sought to destroy the stone so that none of her cures she had placed on her victims could ever be lifted. Awakened and angry at the sight of seeing a living soul coming after the Stone of Amorath she fired curse after curse at the young wizard. She shouted unforgivable curses at the young wizard who dodged them in turn. In order to distract her long enough for his escape the young wizard quickly devised a plan. He turned on the spot waving his wand and shouted "Mucus ad Nauseam!" The Curse of the Bogeys hit her in the face. She squealed in shock as another jet of light hit her square on the nose and she fell under attack of the Bat Bogey Hex. The curse and hex combined overwhelmed her and the young wizard was able to escape her dreadful attack.
It was at this point that the young wizard found himself surrounded by a forest of dense and mangled ancient trees. He began to walk quickly through glancing over his shoulder for any thing that may attack him. Out of a hole in the ground something odd sprang up. A creature with an abnormally large head for its foot tall body came up and bit him on the ankle. First there was one, then two, then three in turn biting him. He quickly recognized them as a gnome and sent a strong knockback jinx their way crying "Flipendo!" as he moved his wand in a slashing motion. He picked up all three of the gnomes and swung them into the air throwing them into the night, never to be seen again.
The young wizard feared coming into contact with any more foul and loathsome creatures and began to ran through the woods as fast as he could in order to avoid detection. This proved to be a folly. As he reached the edge of the woods he found himself knee deep in a marshland. The sound of his splashing had caused something to stir in the distance. The young wizard glanced around with a look of horror at what might next befall him.
Standing in front of him was a hideous old woman unlike anything the young wizard had ever seen. She appeared to be ancient and was covered in warts, her pale skin offset by her crudely made clothes of sack-cloth. She leaned on a large walking stick observing the young wizard with her piercing black eyes. "Come here my sweet. I have a treat for you," she said as she licked her lips hungrily. She began to walk towards him. As she came with in range of his wand light he realized she only had four toes! He remembered the stories his mother had told him as a child about dangerous creatures that loved to eat children and quickly recognized the terrible old woman as a hag and not just any hag a hungry hag. He quickly turned on the spot and ran as fast as he could trough the marsh, through even more dense forest, finally coming to rest in a clearing.
The young wizard knew he was close to the location of the Stone of Amorath. It laid only a mile away on a stony outcrop overlooking a white sandy beach. He continued through the forest hoping to reach the beach when he heard it. The sound of a terrible howl reached the ears of the young wizard and shook him to the core. It was undoubtably the howl of a werewolf. He knew how to treat the bites of the foul beast, but thought it best not to chance it. So he continued in his escape running as fast as he could when he suddenly tripped over something massive that was asleep on the beach. Now on his back the young wizard looked next to him and noticed a giant creature with a green shell like a tortoise, but covered in glittering jewels. He knew it was a fire crab and gave it a wide birth as it shot flames from its back side. He slashed his wand through the air and hit it with a light knockback jinx allowing him to be free of the creature so as to go after the Stone.
The young wizard jumped into the water and waded to the shore of the rocky outcropping. He grabbed the small emerald green stone off of a beautiful stone pillar in the middle of the outcropping. He recognized the Stone immediately as the Stone of Amorath and vanished only to travel home and be able to now heal his mother of the terrible curse she had fallen victim to. The curse lifted instantly and his mother hugged him tight and they lived happily ever after.
The End.
