An Intervew With The Baron

Chapter 3

The Bloody Barron is the house ghost for Slytherin. He is thought to be rather scary, creepy, and not very social. On first glance the Bloody Barron can appear rather intimidating. He is dressed like an aristrocrat which is slightly intimidating in general and to top it all off he is covered in blood. He is most frequently heard traveling through the dungeon corridors rattling his chains that he has around his body. This is intimidating for many students who are in other houses, this is especially true for first years even in Slytherin House. To Slytherins he is seen to be friendly and helpful which is why, as a Slytherin, I chose him for the subject of my interview. I found him ratteling his chains in his usual manner while floating through the dungeons, something he is said to do to alert others of his presence.

The first question I asked the Bloody Barron was what he felt his task here on earth was. He responded that that was a rather complex question as he was both on earth as a wizard and then again as a ghost. He said in life he hoped to move up to a higher royal rank befitting of his noble blood and to marry a beautiful girl. At this point he didn't continue to give any details, but seemed to glance off into the distance. He continued moments later saying that his duty in the afterlife is a life of penance and service to Hogwarts, the home he is fond an greatful to have. He said his primary duty is to advise students when it came to lifes unpredictable moments and to assist Slytherins when they are lost about the castle. His most favorite thing to advise students about is the loss of a loved one. He stated that he has a great understanding of the human emotion of grief and has been a shoulder to gry on, figuratively of course, for many hundreds of years. When asked what his pet peeve was his answer was quite simple; Peeves the Poltergeist. He stated that he finds Peeves to be the most annoying inhabitant of the castle and is one of the few people who can control this troublesome spirit. After that I heard a lost first year Slytherin inquiring about directions to a class so I thanked the Bloody Baron graciously and left him to what he would call "his duty to our school."
