Big Books And Cliches
Chapter 1
Oh my god.
Oh my god oh my god.
Today was certainly the most action packed day of my life.
It all started when I got onto the Hogwarts Express. I wandered the halls, looking for an empty compartment. I had heard from relatives that they were scared and nervous, and that they found someone sitting alone in a compartment, sat with them, or someone knocked into them (Or in Uncle Daniel's case, he rolled over them).
So of course, me being me, these cliches had to smack me in the face.
Firstly, I found a compartment with only one girl. She was shoved into a corner, with only wispy brown hair peeking outside of her giant book. "This is it," I thought,"This girl will be my friend!"
"Can I sit here?" I asked, sliding open the compartment door.
Not even putting down the book, the girl flatly stated, "No."
Well.
Nice to meet you too.
I drew back as if I had been slapped, and stalked out of the compartment, not even bothering to close the door. Hmph. Let her close the door herself.
And here is where the second cliche comes in.
As I was looking around for a compartment to sit in, something barreled at me. "Oomph!" I cried, smushed under someone. They smelled.
The person peeled themselves off of me. He was tall, with blue eyes and blond hair. He seemed to be a first year, because he wasn't wearing a tie. "Hey!" He cried, " Watch where you're going!" What? Me watch where I'm going? "Well-" The boy and his cronies were gone.
Do people have no respect these days?
I had given up by then. I gloomily dragged my trunk to the back of the train, to the outside of the caboose. I banged the door open and heard a scream. "AAH!"
There was a girl there, yelling her head off. She was short, and had red dye on the tips of her blond hair. Her green eyes were wide with fright. I'm sure I looked the same way too.
" Who the bloody hell are you?" She shouted, making me cover my ears, " I'm just sitting here, carefully planning revenge plots, when all of a sudden, you come banging in!"
" Slow down horsey, " I said, making hush motions with my hands," I feel the same way too. I was just looking for a quiet place to fume, when all of a sudden you start screaming like a banshee. My name's Rei Wood, by the way."
"Oh." She looked at me cautiously. " I'm Alex Monroe. And I was planning revenge on Little Miss Prissy-Booky Pants. Can't believe she didn't even put her book down to say no! You?"
"You met her too?" I was shocked. " I wonder what was so interesting about her book?"
I didn't even notice when we slid inside a compartment. We kept talking and talking (with a break when the candy cart lady came- I love Chocolate Frogs). I learned a lot about Alex. For one, her family told her the same stupid cliches as mine. She was a half-blood, and she lived with her father. Alex hoped to be in Gryffindor, and her favorite color was purple.
Me? I didn't know what house I wanted to be in. I knew I wouldn't be in Slytherin or Hufflepuff- I wasn't cunning or kind enough. But Gryffindor or Ravenclaw?
"Maroon?" Alex cried, snapping me out of my thoughts," Your favorite color is MAROON?"
Before I could reply, the train halted to a stop. Alex turned pale. I gulped.
We were at Hogwarts.
