It was a cold, snowy, winter day and Christmas cheer was in the air. Amber was sitting in a big comfy armchair, counting down the days until her older siblings would be coming home from Hogwarts. Then the family cat , Fluffy, came bounding into the room. Fluffy was a greyish balck cat with a white patch of fur shaped like a lightning bolt on his forehead. Fluffy jumped up into Amber’s lap and went to sleep.
While she was daydreaming about how diagon alley was all decked out for christmas, how you could smell fresh baked cookies, the hussle and bussle of parents buying gifts, and the old christmas story of a lost wand, her mom was baking christmas cookies.
“Amber, can you come and help me with these cookies'' her mom called to her from in the kitchen. Amber got up and knocked fluffy to the floor, and strolled into the kitchen. “Ok, first can you take that batch out of the oven” said amber's mother while handing her an oven mit, “sure” amber replied cheerfully. While she was doing this it started to snow outside, Amber looked out the window dreaming of what hogwarts must look like at this time of year, with snow on the ground, the sight on the great hall all decked out for christmas, she could hardly wait till she would get her letter when she turned eleven. “ Hey mom, can willow stay the night tonight '' Amber asked her mom, “Sure, why not, do you want to invite Ellie too” her mom responded. “No, she’s with her family on a trip, '' Amber said with a slightly sad toone in her voice. “Well, why don't you go up stairs and call her '' Ambers mom said. So amber walked out of the room and up the stairs to her room, just as she was about to pick up her phone it started ringing. She picked up the phone and answered it, “HI'' rang a voice from the other end, it was willow. “You didn't have to yell” said Amber sarcastically, “I know” said willow. “So i was wondering if you could spend the night tonight, erm i mean can i stay the night at your house” said willow, “i was about to call to ask you the same thing, but it seems that you have beaten me to it” amber said giggling. “Well then i guess i'll see you soon,” willow said right before she accidentally hung up. Amber put her phone down, and walked to her closet to find her broomstick that she had lost. While digging through all the hand me downs she had acquired she stumbled upon something that looked to be of great value. It was a box, and a very old looking box at that. When she opened it she found a wand, she took out the wand and then a note fell out onto her lap. Just as she was about to open it there came a knock at the front door. Amber quickly stuffed everything back into her closet except for the box with the wand in it, she hid that under her bed. She ran downstairs and opened the door to let in an almost frozen willow inside. By this time the snow had started to accumulate on the ground. “So i was thinking” willow started “if we could go to diagon alley tomorrow and just hang out.” “i’ll ask my mom if we can go on our own. We could fly by broom stick” said Amber who was leading the nearly frozen willow upstairs. When the dou reached Amber’s room willow was starting to unfreeze. “So what should we do first?” said the now unfrozen willow who was taking off her coat. “I'm not sure, maybe we could talk about hogwarts'' said amber. “Sound good” replied Willow while almost sitting on a now unhappy fluffy who was curled up on amber’s bed. “Come here fluffy” said Amber, crossing the room to remove fluff from her bed. “Girls, i'm going to get Amber's siblings from the train station. Be back in a bit.” yelled Amber’s mom from down stairs. “ok” Amber and Willow yelled at the same time. They waited till after their mom left the house before speaking, “So, have you heard that we’ll be going at the same time that Harry Potter is'' Willow asked Amber, “YOU MEAN THE HARRY POTTER'' Amber yelled. “Yep” willow replied while amber was squealing like a pig and blushing. After amber had finished having her moment, the two girls started talking about hogwarts, diagon alley, and other things about the wizarding world. “Were home” came Amber's mom’s voice from down stairs. The two girls went down stairs to welcome home amber’s siblings.
“Hi Willow,” said Amber's older sister, ally. While Willow and Ally talked about the latest books, Amber went upstairs to her room, she had just remembered the wand she had found, before she could get it her mother had called them down for dinner. They all had a good meal of ham, beans, and other holiday favorites. “You girls better be off to bed. You have a big day tomorrow.” Amber’s mom said after they had played board games and had desert. “Ok” the two girls replied while they were getting up to go upstairs. The next day they woke up at seven-thirty. After they got dressed and ate breakfast, they grabbed their money and floo powder, then they headed off to diagon alley. After they came out of a fireplace in one of the shops. They walked out of the shop to find diagon alley covered in snow and decorated for christmas. There were very few people in diagon alley due to the fact that most kids had just come home from Hogwarts and were spending time with family. Even though there was hardly anyone in diagon alley, there were a couple of families who didn't have kids or they did but they were too young to go hogwarts. One of which were the Malfoys, a very high respected wizard family who were the first ones to come back after the fall of voldemort. The Malfoys had one son who was the same age as amber and willow, and his name was draco. As the two girls were making their way towards the quidditch supply store they passed the malfoys who looked like they were headed to knockturn alley. “Ug” said Willow “just because they are ‘purebloods’ doesn't mean they are better than us.” “Ok willow, cheer up it's christma-” amber was cut off by the cold sound of malfoys voice. “Yeah, cheer up you mudblood” malfoy sneered. “So, where are your parents?” Amber said in a sassy voice. “They went to knockturn and left me over here, because they didn't want me to be seen down there until I'm older.” malfoy sneered. “HOLD ME BACK” Willow exclaimed to Amber as several people’s attention was drawn to the argument. “Come on, let's go,” Amber said sternly in Willow's ear. Amber and willow walked away from malfoy who now had a smug grin on his face. “The nerve” Willow said and looked as if she was about to turn back around and attack malfoy. Amber held Willow back and drug her into, quality quidditch supplies, so she could calm down. “Are you ok now?” Amber asked Willow. “Yeah, I'm fine” she replied in an angry tone.
They left the shop and made their way out of the shop and onto the now snow covered street. “Hold on amber, I was going to get me a cat for Hogwarts before the school rush next year,” Willow said as They headed over to the owl emporium, the weather had become rather miserable. “I guess i’ll pick up an owl while we're here,” Amber said as they walked into the shop.



Christmas had gone as fast as it had come. Amber’s siblings had returned to Hogwarts, and summer was fast approaching. Amber was once again sitting in the same arm chair staring out at the singing birds when her mom called her upstairs, “Amber, come up here please.” Amber got up as Fluffy was coming over to the chair to take her place on Amber's lap. On her way upstairs Amber was thinking of what she could have possibly done wrong, before coming to a conclusion on what she could have done, she reached the room where her mother was. “What do you need, mom?” Amber asked nervously, “well, I was wondering if you would want to go to Diagon alley and look at what you might need for your first year at Hogwarts” her mother replied. “Um, ok.” Amber said, “But what about my lett-” but her mother cut her off before she could finish, “I have it right here, you had slept in and I laid it on your desk but I guess you missed it.” Amber got dressed and ran down stairs to meet her mother so they could leave. They finished their shopping in Diagon Alley and headed home.

Amber scrambled out of bed, threw on a pair of dark blue jeans, a white shirt, a bright yellow jacket, and ran down stairs to eat breakfast. “So, are you nervous” Alley asked, “Well, maybe a little” Amber replied with a little laugh. Amber and Alley finished their breakfast, grabbed their bags and pets, loaded the luggage into the car, and headed to platform 9 ¾.

They arrived at the train station, and unloaded their luggage. “AMBER OVER HERE” called a voice from behind them, it was ellie. “I'm coming, I'm coming,” Amber called back. She ran over to Ellie and they went into the station. “So are you nervous to go through the wall” Ellie asked, “Well not really” Amber replied as they reached the wall. “Should we wait for everyone else” Ellie asked, “Yeah, just to make sure they don’t think a muggle found us” Amber replied jokingly.
Everyone else finally caught up and went through the barrier and ended up on platform 9 ¾. “Now be good, don’t cause trouble and,” Ambers mom started but stopped when willow butted in, “I’m here” willow panted. “Oh, hello willow dear” Amber's mom said, “Well, go on and get on the train, it looks like Ellie, alley, and Ellie’s sister are already on.”
Willow and Amber grabbed their luggage and got on the train. “Ok, willow, now that we are alone I have something to tell you. I found a wand in the back of my closet, I was able to slip away in diagon alley when me and my mom went, and he said he remembered that wand very well” by now they were in a compartment in the middle of the train. “It has three cores in it, phoenix feather, dragon heartstring, and unicorn hair.” Willow stood wide eyed and gaping at her as if Amber had just told her Harry Potter had died. “I’ll tell you more later ok willow, and you better put your trunks in the rack.” After they had put their trunks in the rack they settled down for a long ride.

About Fifteen minutes into the train ride Ellie finally managed to get away from her sister, and came into the compartment. “ELLIE'' willow cried and ran to hug her, “Calm down willow, it’s only been 3 months since we’ve seen each other.” Ellie said gasping for breath, “ONLY three months” Willow exclaimed letting go of ellie. The three of them sat down and started talking about the wand amber had found, when the compartment door slid open. “Well, well, well… Look at what we have here, a mudblood, three in fact.” came a sneering voice, it was Draco Malfoy, accompanied by Vincet Crabbe, and Gregory Goyle.

“MY BLOOD IS JUST AS PURE AS YOURS” Willow yelled, “willow sit down” Amber said as she held willow back. “Well… the mudblood is feisty” draco sneered, as this amber had lost her cool to, “I'M A PUREBLOOD TO SO YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO CALL ME A MUDBLOOD.”
Amber let go of Willow, who had given up, and took out the old wand, Draco also drew his wand. “PLEASE STOP FIGHTING” Ellie yelled, not wanting anyone to get killed. At this Amber put the wand away. “Come on you two let’s go,” Draco sneered at Crabbe and Goyle, and then walked away.

The rest of the ride was pleasant, the trolly came by, and Millie joined them halfway through the ride. “Hi, what did I miss” Millie asked when she entered the compartment, “Oh not much,Willow and Amber almost killed someone” Ellie replied, “WHAT DID YOU TWO GET INTO THIS TIME” Millie yelled at Willow and Amber. So they told her about Draco Malfoy and what happened, “OH I WANNA-” Millie started but stopped when the compartment door slid open, and in walked a girl. “Has anyone seen a toad, a boy named Neville's lost one” said the girl. “First off no, second off who are you anyways” Amber said reaching for a chocolate frog, “My name’s Hermione Granger, what's yours?” Hermione replied, “My name’s Millie, and this is Amber, Willow, and Ellie.” Millie replied, “Well I have to find a toad, good day” Hermione said and walked out closing the compartment door behind her.

“Well we better get dressed, I suspect we’ll be there soon enough” Millie said happily, as she was getting her robes out of her trunk. They finished changing and stuck the rest of their sweets in their trunks, and cleaned up their mess. The train stopped and the four of them grabbed their stuff and filed out of the train, and onto the Hogsmeade platform.


“Firs’ years, Firs’ years over hear” came a booming voice from the other side of the platform. The four of them made their way to the side of the platform, and were led by a tall figure of a man to some boats on the lake. “I wonder when we get sorted,” Amber said while getting into a boat, “I don't know, c’mon Ellie, hurry up and get in the boat” Willow replied. They got into a boat, and headed across the water. When they reached the shore on the other side, they saw something that amazed them, Hogwarts. “WOW '' Willow said getting out of the boat, “Willow be careful” Ellie said, but it was too late willow had fallen backwards into the lake. Willow jumped up out of the freezing water and braced herself before she fell in the water again. “Ok, follow me” came the booming voice once everyone had gotten out of the boats. They were led up to the castle and stopped in front of two big oak doors. The doors opened and out stepped a tall black haired witch with emerald green robes. “I’ll take them from here” said the witch, and led the first years inside. She led them to a corridor with flaming torches.
“Welcome to Hogwarts,” she said. “The feast will begin shortly but first you will be sorted into your Houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw,
and Slytherin.” she finished. While you are at
Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your House points, while any rulebreaking will lose House points. At the end of the year the house with the most points will win the house cup. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house you are sorted into. The ceremony will begin shortly.” Then she walked away and left the corridor.

Amber was so nervous that she hadn't realized she was already walking through the great hall. “Wow, look at the candles” Willow exclaimed, “I know right,” Amber replied. “Greenfern, Ellie” Mcgonigall said from the front of the great hall, Ellie went up to the hat and about 20 seconds later the hat shouted “GRYFFINDOR.” everyone clapped, when the hall finally became silent. “Lee, Millie” Mcgonigall said, Millie stood frozen on the spot until WIllow nudged her. MIllie sat down on the stool and about five seconds after the hat was put on her head it shouted “GRYFFINDOR” and at that Millie bounded over to the gryffindor table. “Skybane, Willow” Willow walked up to the stool and sat down, and the hat was placed on her head. It took a bit longer to sort her, Finally about a minute later the hat shouted, “RAVENCLAW” Willow looked glum but still happily bounded over to the ravenclaw table. “Potter, Harry” everyone looked as a scrawny boy with dark messy hair stepped up to the stool and sat down. It took the hat a couple of minutes before shouting, “GRYFFINDOR” the gryffindor table exploded in cheers and clapping. “Redwood, Amber” Amber went up to the stool and sat down. “Hmm… let’s see here, though. Loyalty and kindness, but ambition. Hm…” Amber sat there for a moment and she didn't know how much time had passed, 5 minutes later the hat finally shouted “SLYTHERIN” the hat was taken off her head and the glumly walked off to the slytherin table. Amber didn't eat much that evening and after the feast and dumbledore's speech, she went straight to bed.

Amber got up the next morning, got dressed, and walked to breakfast. “Hiya” Willow said and jumped out at Amber from behind a corner, “what do you want?” Amber replied glumly. “Do ya wanna eat breakfast with me, Millie, and Ellie?” Willow said, “Sure, I guess.” Amber replied. When they reached the great hall they all went over to the Gryffindor table where Millie and Ellie were waiting for them. “Hi” MIllie said as they approached, “Hello” Willow replied. Amber sat down and put some eggs and bacon on her plate. “What's wrong with her?” Millie asked in a hushed voice, “I’m not sure,” Willow replied. “Hey amber, what’s wrong” Willow asked, “Nothing” Amber replied, “I thought you were excited for Hogwarts, if your homesick you’ll get over it in a few days” Willow said, “You don’t get it, do you” Amber said, then stormed out of the great hall. Once amber got out of the great hall she started to run. She ran into the girls restroom and sat down on the hard cold floor in one of the stalls. “Oh, who are you” came a voice from the other stall, “Leave me alone” Amber replied, “oh, a funny name” called the voice again, then a ghost girl came floating through the stall wall. “Ahh” Amber yelled, “Don’t yell” said the girl, “Well, what's your name?” Amber said, “Everyone calls me moaning myrtle,” Myrtle said, “Oh, pitiful moaning myrtle,” She said before crying and floating away into a toilet. Amber got up and and walked out of the bathroom, “I thought I would find you here” WIllow said running towards Amber, “C’mon, we got potions, which is taught by professor snape, so we don’t want to be late.” Amber followed Willow to the dungeons. “I mean it’s not all that bad that you're in slytherin” Willow said, “I guess it’s not,” Amber replied, “after all there was a hat stall and I was almost put in hufflepuff,” Willow stared at her for a moment before speaking, “What, A hat stall… YOU NEVER TOLD ME” willow exclaimed, “Sorry, well now you know” Amber replied. They Finally reached potions class. They got a table in the back, with Millie and Ellie sitting in front of them.
After potions, in the corridor outside of the classroom, Draco Malfoy came up to willow and Amber, “well… well… well… if it isn't the mudblood” he sneered. “YOUR ONE TO TALK DRACO, WHAT HAPPENED, DID YOU SPILL HAIR GEL ON YOUR HEAD, AND WHO HAS GORILLAS AS FRIENDS ANYWAYS!” Amber shouted at draco. Draco looked hurt, but equally mad. Draco walked away and all heads turned towards willow and amber, “Sorry, she's just tired” Willow said, and the two of them walked off to charms.

“Wow Amber, someone finally showed that bully” Millie said excitedly, “I couldn’t help myself” Amber replied putting a bowl of soup on her plate. “So, how did you do in charms, that hermione girl from the train did perfectly” Ellie said sarcastically, “I did pretty good, only took me three tries to levitate that feather” amber replied, “What about you Willow,” Willow looked up from her plate, and swallowed her food real quick, “only, cough, took me, cough, two, chough, tries” Willow sputtered before choking. Ellie hit Willow on the back as if she was a baby who needed to cough.
Everyone finished up their lunch and headed off to defense against the dark arts. “Hey amber look there's harry potter, let's go say hi” Willow said, “YES” amber exclaimed, they went over to him to introduce themselves. “Hi, im Willow, and this is ellie, millie, and…” she paused for a moment amber was no longer beside her, “Where did she go” willow asked, and MIllie pointed at the floor, amber was laying on the floor squealing like a pig. “Sorry bout’ her” Willow said, “um, no problem, i really need to get to potions see ya” Harry said and ran off. “Amber, he’s gone” Millie said looking at amber who was still on the floor, “Wait, WHAT” amber yelled and jumped up, “NO MY ONLY CHANCE AND I MISSED IT.” They started back on course to class.
“So, who is the” Amber squinted at her schedule, “D.A.D.A, teacher? And what is D.A.D.A”

“D.A.D.A, is defense against dark arts, silly” Willow said, “And it’s taught my professor quarrel, ack, were late” and they ran off to class.

They finally got to D.A.D.A, after getting lost a few times.
“H-hello, y-you f-four, t-t-take y-your s-s-seats” came a voice from the front of the room. The four of them grabbed seats in the back of the room. Throughout the whole lesson Willow took notes, Millie and Ellie played cat's cradle, and Amber tried not to fall asleep. “C-class i-is d-d-dismissed” Professor Quarrel sputtered from the front of the room. Willow threw her parchment, quill, and ink into her bag, Millie and ellie stood up to leave, and Amber snapped awake and jumped up. The four of them set off for transfiguration. “Hey, Willow, can i borrow your notes from class” Amber asked, “really, you expect ME to lend you my notes, when u slept through class” Willow snapped back, “Well, just this once” Amber replied, “Fine, just this ONCE” willow said. For the rest of the day the four of them stuck together, in case they got lost. “Oh, itty bitty first years” came a voice from behind, The four of them jumped and turned arround, “Im, peeves” said a transparent ghost. “Go, away, peeves” Amber said, “Go away peeves” Peeves repeated in a mocking voice. Willow grabbed the biggest book she had in her bag and yeeted at peeves, the ghost flew away to go terrorize other students. “I’m so sorry” willow said with her hands over her mouth and ran to pick up her book. “Willow, the book is fine” Ellie said rolling her eyes. Finally they headed to the great hall for dinner.


The four of them sat down with their house mates. Amber ate dinner and waited outside of the great hall for the other three.

The next few weeks were kind of slow. Snape yelling at gryffindors, draco still avoiding Amber, and peeves terrorizing people.

Amber woke up early halloween morning, got dressed and headed down to breakfast where willow was waiting. “Hola, friendo,” Willow said, “Morning Willow” Amber said as they sat down at the ravenclaw table. “So, how warm are the dungeons at night” Willow asked, “Well, not too bad actually” Amber replied. They finished eating breakfast, and headed off to class.

The rest of the day was boring, like every day, until dinner.

After all of amber’s classes, she walked to dinner, sat down at the slytherin table and waited for the Halloween feast to begin. There were floating pumpkins instead of candles, and live bats flying around in the air.

Finally it was time for the feast to begin, Dumbledore got up and gave a very short speech, and then everyone dug into the food that had just appeared on the tables. “Hey, i’m sorry” came a voice from beside Amber, She jumped not aware anyone was sitting there since she was so into the decorations. Then Amber turned to see Draco Malfoy. “Do you really think I would forgive you” Amber snapped back, “Well…” Draco sputtered, “Well, what” she snapped again, “I- I just thought we might need to resolve this since we are in the same house, and we can’t really avoid each other in the evenings” He said, as if hoping she wouldn’t jinx him. “Fine, I guess so. Just don’t think this means we're friends now” she said before going back to her food.
About half way through the feast the door flung open, and in ran quarrel, looking as if he had just seen banshee. “TROLL, TROLL IN THE DUNGEONS'' he yelled, “Calm yourself profesor” Dumbledore said calmly, “t-troll, i-i-in t-the d-d-dungeons'' Quarrel said once more before fainting, and falling on the hard, cold floor. It seemed to take everyone a couple of seconds to take in what he said before the great hall broke out in screams. “SILENCE” dumbledore roared, all screams stopped, “Prefects, take your house to the common rooms.” Everyone got up to follow the prefects back to the common rooms, Amber got up to follow their prefects. “Wait, Amber, our common room is in the dungeons,” Draco said quietly to Amber. Amber stopped in her tracks, “I kinda forgot about that” Amber replied, “i’ll go ask dumbledore about that.” Amber walked over to Dumbledore to ask him, “um, professor, where do we go since our common room is in the dungeons,” Amber asked nervously, “oh, i'm sorry please inform your prefects you will be going to the Hufflepuff common room, get on now” Dumbledore said, and at this Amber ran off to tell the prefects. “Um… I just asked dumbledore where we were to go since our common room is in the dungeons, and he said we are to go to the Hufflepuff common room” Amber told the girl prefect, “Oh, ok i was about to go ask myself, OK EVERYONE TO THE HUFFLEPUFF COMMON ROOM” the prefect shouted to the rest of the slytherins. Amber headed back to where draco was. “Happy now, I asked Dumbledore and he said we were to go to the Hufflepuff common room,” Amber said to Draco, “oh, ok. Thanks'' he said blushing a little, “Oh, don’t tell me you like me, grease head.” Amber replied moodily. They headed to the hufflepuff common room, where the Hufflepuff prefect let them in. “Wow, it’s so… Bright'' Amber said to herself. “Hello, would you like to talk a little bit” came a sweet sounding voice from behind Amber, “oh, hi” Amber said quickly turning around, “oh, I didn't mean to startle you, sorry. Welcome to our common room” said the Hufflepuff, gesturing for Amber to come sit down. Amber followed her lead and sat down in a big comfy chair. “So, what’s your name” the Hufflepuff asked, “Amber, Redwood Amber” she replied, “Oh, that's a pretty name, mine is Leah, Leah Martin” said the Hufflepuff. “Hey Leah, can we go to a corner in the common room, I want to ask you something… well private” Amber said and Leah followed her to the far corner, “I found this wand in the back of my closet, and I need help on deciding what to do with it” Amber said pulling the wand out of her pocket. “Wow, that looks old,” Leah said, leaning over it. “I found it in the back of my closet before this school year” Amber said, “I think you should ask ollivander” Leah said, “I have, he said he remembered that it had all three cores in it” Amber replied, “Ok EVERYONE, THE TROLL IS GONE WE CAN HEAD BACK TO THE COMMON ROOM NOW” The Slytherin prefect yelle. “Ok, before I go, can I trust you to keep a secret, and I want you to meet my friends at breakfast tomorrow, if you don’t have plans of your own” Amber said, “Yes, and Yes'' Leah said. “see ya” Amber said, “see ya” Leah replied. Amber left the Hufflepuff common room and followed the rest of the slytherins back to the dungeons.

The time between halloween and Valentines day were slow, Amber fainting while passing Harry in the corridors, her and Draco talking a little, and snape yelling at more gryffindors.

“So are you going to send harry a card” Willow asked anxiously, “well…” Amber started, “No, I'm over him.” Willow stared in shock, “you- are you sick amber” Willow asked, “no, no, it’s just that he’s too popular for me” Amber finished as they reached potions. “So, who then?” Willow asked as they sat down, “Well, no one” Amber replied, and they ended the conversation before snape caught them talking.

Valentine's day passed quickly, and Snape yelled at more gryffindors.

The end of the year was coming to a close, the 5th, 6th, and 7th years were relaxing after the O.W.L.S and N.E.W.T.S. While Amber and her friends spent a lot of their time wandering the grounds and taking in all the sun.

Before Amber knew it she was packing her bags and heading to the end of the year feast.
She sat down at the Slytherin table and drowned out Dumbledore's boring speech. When dinner was over Amber and her friends met outside of the great hall.
“Hola friendos,” Willow said as they approached her. “Hi willow” Ellie said, “I can’t believe it, I made it through the year without getting yelled at by Snape” Ellie said as Snape approached the group. “And what was this you were just saying, ms. greenfern” Snape said looking ellie straight in the eyes, “I-” she sputtered, snape sighed, “looks like i can’t take points from gryffindor since your out past bedtime” he said, “were so sorry sir, we’ll go now” Willow said and they walked away from snape.

The next day Amber boarded the Hogwarts Express to go home, along with willow, millie, and ellie of course. They grabbed a compartment in the middle of the train and settled in for a long ride...
