Chapter 5
Butterbeer Popcorn!
a sweet and salty treat perfect for a Harry Potter movie marathon, or anytime!
what you need:
12 cups air-popped popcorn (slightly heaping 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon butter flavor
3/4 teaspoon rum flavor (this is an EXTRACT!! Its NOT actual rum)
8 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons blackstrap molasses
1 tablespoon water
1/2 teaspoon coarse kosher salt (use less if using fine salt)
1. Pop the Popcorn, and place aside
2. laine a large baking sheet with parchment paper
3. mix your Baking soda, and nutmeg in one bowl, and slowly add your extracts
4. Cook Butter, sugar, molasses, water, and salt in a sauceoan until it reaches 305 degrees Farenheit
5. carefully stir in your extract/nutmeg and baking soda mixture into the molasses mixture and por over the popcorn
6. Use Rubber scrapers to distribute the "Butterbeer" evenly, and scoop out onto the baking sheet
7. Let it cool down and enjoy!!
