The Dream
Chapter 2
Angela woke up and sat up, her head throbbing. She had had just the most awful dream - nightmare. It had been really weird too, but quite scary.
In the dream, she had been trapped in this weird glass ball, and the ball was the only glowing thing in the darkness - everywhere else darkness surrounded her and the glass ball. She had heard weird mutterings, like "kill her, she's too weak," or "we need her powers..." and then Angela had woke up. She rubbed her aching head, and decided to have some water, thinking hard about the dream. Powers? Those weird voices had been saying that she had powers. But Angela shook her head, smiled slightly, and tried to forget it. She didn't have powers. The dream had been nonsense, as her mother would say. Just a dream. So she decided not to tell her mother, but keep the dream to herself.
She turned the tap on, and filled her glass with water. She drank it down, enjoying the cold fresh water run down her throat.
Later that day, Angela tried to forget the dream completely, but she couldn't. Those words were still echoing in her head - "we need her powers..."
Angela's mother noticed her restlessness, and questioned her. "What's wrong, Angela? Do you have a fever?"
And Angela replied, trying to smile, "No, mother. I am fine. But thanks for asking."
That night, Angela tossed and turned in her bed. She felt cold, and heaped blankets on herself. But then she felt hot, and kicked the blankets off.
Her mother noticed this, and decided to ring the doctor. He announced that she had a temperature, and she wouldn't be able to go to school for a week. Angela was quite glad about this - she did not like to go to school. She felt worse then ever, and lay down on the couch. She was still thinking about her horrible dream. She simply could not forget it, and Angela felt worse then ever.
