Albus Dumbledore
A reincarnation of Merlin
Albus Dumbledore was born in August 1881 to Percival and Kendra Dumbledore as the eldest of the Dumbledore siblings (Albus, Aberforth and Arianna).
When Albus was ten and Aberforth eight, a grave tragedy struck. Their six-year-old sister, Arianna was playing in the park by performing accidental magic. Three muggle boys, seeing her do things which were unbelievable asked he (albeit rudely) to perform the extraordinary feat again. Arianna, now scared tried to do the same thing but, unfortunately was unable to (one would notice that magic, especially accidental magic is based strongly on emotions). The boys thinking that she was a freak, harmed her. While we do not know the extent of the physical and mental injuries, after the incident Arianna started blocking out and suppressing her magic becoming (in my opinion) an Obscurus. After the incident, Percival sought out the three boys to take revenge for what they had done to little Arianna. However, he went overboard and thus ended up seriously injuring the boys due to which he was sentenced to Azkaban.
Percival in Azkaban and Arianna physically and mentally unstable, Kendra decided to leave their old home in Mould-on-the-Wold where she was constantly asked and belittled about her husband to Godric's Hollow, where the family kept to themselves. Kendra decided to keep Arianna's existance a secret and anyone who knew about her was to be given the classic "my sister is ill and mother takes care of her".
Soon enough the eleven-year-old Albus left his ten-year-old brother and mother to look after his seven-year-old sister. Albus met another first-year student by the name of Elphias Dodge and they two became great friends. According to Dodge, the became the best of friends because of their unique circumstances. Dodge had contracted Dragon Pox shortly before school and while he was not contagious, his pockmarked visage and greenish hue did not encourage anyone to go near him. On the other hand, Albus was hated by many because of the grievous crime his father made the year before. Albus and Dodge were both sorted in Gryffindor. When Dodge finally picked up the courage to ask Albus about his father, he assured Dodge that he knew his father to be guilty.
Due to his father, Albus was pegged as a 'Muggle-hater' but Albus' friends knew it to be a joke- he had always supported for the rights of Muggles which gained him plenty of enemies in the future.
Albus' popularity soon skyrocketed and by the time of the summer, he was never to be pegged as a 'Muggle-hater' but as the brightest student to ever grace the halls of Hogwarts. He won every award that the school had to offer and soon was in contact with several of the notable witches and wizards of their time like Nicholas Flamel (the only known maker of the Philosopher's Stone), Bathilda Bagshot (a renowned historian) and Adalbert Waffling (a magical theoretician). He wrote many papers which found their way to 'Transfiguration Today', 'Challenges in Charming' and 'The Practical Potioneer'.
Many thought Dumbledore's future was either being a meteoric or the future Minister for Magic. Although it became clear to them that Dumbledore never had Ministerial ambitions but he wanted to teach the young students in the later years.
Three years after Albus and Dodge started school, Aberforth came to Hogwarts. Though, Aberforth wasn't anything like Albus- where Albus liked to settle arguments by reasoning, Aberforth always settled arguments by dueling. Also, Aberforth was never much of a bookworm like Albus. It didn't mean that they weren't friends though.
After graduating in 1899, Albus decided to go on a global tour with Dodge but unfortunately those plans went into the gutter when they got the heartbreaking news- their mother, Kendra Dumbledore nee Thomas was dead. It was thought that Arianna had somehow killed her mother with one of her accidental, uncontrollable bursts of magic. Since he was the eldest, Albus retired to their home in Godric's Hollow to (reluctantly) look after his sister. So, Dodge alone now went to roam the wizarding world.
From time-to-time, Dodge would send his letters explaining his wild adventures and while he was having great fun, Dodge thought that Albus' life was too boring for such an extraordinary wizard.
When Albus was reluctantly taking care of little Arianna in Godric's Hollow, Bathilda Bagshot's great-nephew Gellert Grindlewald visited his great-aunt. Soo, the two boys became friends and Albus became entranced with Gellert and his ideas- the ideas of Pureblood supremacy, Muggles are animals and the search for the legendary Deathly Hallows. Soon, this friendship evolved into much more.
