Chapter 3
I knew freedom was a privilege, some dogs spend there whole lives locked up in cages. But I didn't think I had enough freedom, so I pushed the limits to see how much freedom I could get and if I got to much I could come back, well i couldn't come back. I had a loving family, my owners' names was Rose, and her mom Amanda.
"you ready to keep going, lucky" Rose said to me getting up off the bench, we were going hiking, I jumped up and we started walking again. We walked. and Walked. AND WALKED. it felt like we had been walking for years before we finally reached the car again. Rose opened the back door of the car and I hopped in. When everyone was in the car we headed home. Every Saturday we went on a hike, and on the week days, Rose wen't to school, and Amanda worked, when Rose was done with school, Amanda would pick her up and they would come home. Every week i eagerly waited for our Saturday walk since I could finally stretch my legs and run. On Saturday we woke up ate breakfast, got our stuff ready, and went hiking. This time we wen't a hour away to hike. When we got out of the car I got leashed up and we started walking. Halfway through the walk I spotted a Squirrel, and of course I tried to chase it. Usually the leash hold me back but this time I was able to run after it, I chased it through the woods, over creaks, and around rocks. Then I lost the squirrel, I happily turned around to see the trail, or rose right behind me, but no one or nothing was there just miles of trees. I wondered what had happened, then I looked at the broken leash, it snapped in half. I was all alone. I tried to find my way back but I had no luck. At that point I had given up, I laid down on the earthy cold ground and hoped someone would find me.
I opened my eyes, I was in the ground, then I realized it, I was dead. I floated up out of the ground to find rose crying. "He, was a good dog, when we found him he was already gone, he froze to death in the middle of the night, he had already had some mild lung problems" Amber said to a few people who were there to help bury me. Night was falling, Amber and Amanda headed back inside. When rose laid down in bed, I laid down with her, and she drifted off to sleep.
