Hedwig was Harry’s owl he bought his first time in diagon ally with Hagrid. He named the snowy owl after a witch in one of his school books. She was a good owl, delivering messages and keeping Harry company. She was often stuck with Harry throughout the summer and stuck in her cage by the Dursleys. She was once attacked while delivering a message and had to be nursed back to health. She died during the battle of the Seven Potters, hit by a killing curse in her cage. Harry was devastated and comforted by his friends, Hagrid stating she live “a great old life”. the loss of Hedwig is said to resemble the loss of Harry’s innocence and the end of his childhood.
