Chapter 9
Rubeus Hagrid
Rubeus Hagrid was born on 6 December 1928. Hagrid was born as a half-giant, his father was a human and his mother was a giant. Her mother left Hagrid when he was only three, since she thought her son was "too small" for her liking. He grew to an height of eleven and a half feet tall, immense by human standards but very small by giant standards. His dad died when Rubeus was 12. After his dad died, Rubeus searched for his mom; but he found someone else. It was his half-brother, an undersized giant called Gwamp.
Hagrid's father was thrilled when his son was accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Hagrid began his education in 1940 in which he was Sorted into Gryffindor House. In his third year, he got a pet which was a dangerous type of spider; a young Acromantula, which he named Aragog. The same year, a boy named Tom Ridde(Voldemort) which was a fifth year opened the Chamber of Secrets and unleashed a new creature called the Basilisk and attacked to a lot of students until he killed a girl called Myrtle Warren. The school was in danger of closing and Tom needed something that could prove he is innocent so he turned Hagrid in as the culprit when he found out about Aragog. Hagrid got in trouble once two weeks so he got expelled from school in no time. Following his expulsion, the Ministry of Magic forbade Hagrid from practising magic and destroyed his wand. But his Transfiguration teacher, Albus Dumblodere was convinced that Hagrid is innocent so he convinced the headmaster, Armando Dippet to have Hagrid trained for the job of Gamekeeper and allow the him to remain a resident of the school. Hagrid also continues to use a pink umbrella to cast spells.
Sometime in the 1970s, Hagrid joined the Order of the Phoenix. And participated in the First Wizarding War. His task was to bring Harry to his aunt's house from Godric's Hallow. After years, he helped Harry Potter to get ready to go to Hogwarts. More than Harry, Hagrid also helped a lot of people for their years at Hogwarts.
Hagrid was still working at Hogwarts by 2017, at 89 years old. In 2019, Hagrid led the members of the then recently established Statute of Secrecy Task Force seeking a career as Magizoologists, welcoming them by saying that he could sense they were going to sign in as he was able to see that they shared a curious spirit and ensuring them that, although being a Magizoologist was far from easy, they could succeed if they had the spirit to withstand the difficult trials and could recover. He never got married even though he once had a reciprocated attraction to Madame Maxime.
