He hurried up into the light, and making sure that no one was watching, he set his little sister down on the top step out of the rain. He looked around again his face half hidden in the shadow of his hood. He slipped a letter out of a secret pocket in his flowing cloak, he then placed it in the outer folds of the little girl's blankets. He looked longingly at the little girl before turning away. He thought quickly and grabbed the brass door knocker and then dropped it, letting the sound ring around the little court yard. He then took of running, into the night, leaving behind the only family he had left.
