Robot Crocodile? No Thanks.
Chapter 11
Luke and Crystal didn’t run.
On the contrary, they did something very stupid.
They opened the door and ran in, only to screech to a stop in fear of what was looming over us.
A gigantic crocodile.
Except it wasn’t really a crocodile.
For one thing, it had paws and pointy ears.
For another, it had feathers.
-
We stood before the huge beast, completely terrified. Then we grew even more scared as it roared.
A lion’s roar.
Alright, let’s sum this up: A giant feathered croc with paws and ears that was also part lion?
Yeah, not my style.
“Not the time for sarcasm, Specs,” Luke said with gritted teeth.
Oh. Sorry.
Usually, I would just fly out of there as fast as my wings would take me, but then the door banged shut.
Crystal! Why would you let go of the door?!
“I didn’t! Something pulled it out of my hand! This is so weird!”
Her voice seemed to activate the crocodile. It stood on its hind legs, glaring at us with it’s glowing red eyes.
Then it lunged.
-
It nearly bit off Luke’s arm.
He screamed in pain and with incredible strength, Luke threw the creature off of him.
We all froze, even Luke, who was standing open mouthed at the crocodile.
How the heck did you just lift a massive crocodile as if it was a pillow?
“That doesn’t matter! Luke, are you okay?” Crystal tried to get Luke to show his arm to her, but he was turning away, trying to hide the blood.
“I’m fine.” His voice was tight with pain. “Listen, the croc is light. Just shove it off if it tries to come at you.”
“But-”
“Crystal, GO!” He yelled. Her face turned pale and she turned away, blocking Luke from the crocodile’s view.
It hadn’t moved all this time, but the moment Crystal turned, it lunged again. She was ready this time and pushed at it with all her strength.
It fell like a ball ricocheting off a wall. It bounced into the opposite wall and broke down, and it was only then I noticed wires poking out of it. It’s eyes went dim.
It wasn’t alive.
