How to address an envelope Harry Potter style.
Of course, if you're actually going to mail the envelope, then you definitely do not write this on the front. Instead, write it on the back, with their Muggle address in the usual place.
But if you're just handing it to them, then of course write it on the front!
Also, I'm American, so you might need to slightly modify this if you live in a different country.
Now, down to business.
First, Harry's letter from Hogwarts was adressed thus:
Mr. H. Potter
The Cupboard under the Stairs
4 Privet Drive
Little Whinging
Surrey
So you would write:
Mr./Miss Their name
Their bedroom
Their street name (skip this one if they're at Hogwarts)
Their town/city
Their state, county, or country
You also need to take into account if the person you're writing to would be at Hogwarts. If they are, then use this:
Mr. A. Abbott
Gryffindor Tower
Hogwarts Castle
Scotland
The name of the road near Hogwarts was never specified, but you could put:
Mr. A. Abbott
Gryffindor Tower
Hogwarts Ln.
Hogwarts Castle
Scotland
If they are at their house, then use this:
Miss. B. Pettigrew
The Yellow Bedroom
5286 Hamilton Drive
Nashville
Tennessee
You might need to customize or change several things.
Again, I'm American, and I do not know how post works in other countries. Sorry.
You might also want to add a wax seal to the back of the envelope. You can use a real wax seal, or just draw one with markers or something, or a sticker.
Lastly, add some sort of thing that says "Owl Post" or something similar, like "Please feed this owl upon delivery".
Also consider using envelopes that resemble the color of parchment. You could also use a green ink pen, for good measure.
For extra good measure, buy stamps that have owls or sparks on them. You could also write on parchment-colored paper.
Some fun things to write when signing your name on the letter are:
-have a good weekend.
Draco dormeins nunquam titillandus!
-Ginny Weasley
Ravenclaw 5th Year
I hope this was helpful!
