Chapter 7
An Obscurus is a parasitical magical force that is created when a young Witch or Wizard tries to suppress their magic. The eventually develop an Obscurus, which is a powerful magical force.
It unmastered, the Obscurus bursts forth at random times, causing immense damage. However, it is possible to control it, and to direct it, as shown by Credence Barebone. Someone with an Obscurus is called an Obscurial.
