"Evelyn! Sirius! We are leaving now! What are you up to now?! I said we are are leaving now! If you don't get your sorry little arses down here, you will not go to Hogwarts!" Our gracious, loving mother screamed up the stairs.
"Sirius, we have to go! Mother is literally going to bloody murder us!" I cried out to Sirius worriedly. Sirius was taking much too long in the loo for my liking.
Finally, fed up with Sirius' antics, I burst through the door assuming I would find him fixing his hair, but to my astonishment, he was cleaning up a grotesque wound on his hip with alcohol.
"Sirius! Merlin's Beard! What happened to you?" I rushed forward to try to get a better look at the wound.
"Lexi! I'm fine, don't touch it! That'll make it hurt more!" Sirius said backing away.
"What happened Siri?" I asked him softly, approaching him slowly to see if I could help heal his wound.
"Lucius happened. I may have been dueling with him, but this time I almost won! The only reason I didn't win is because he started using dark magic again, and gave me this!" Sirius stated proudly, Lucius and Sirius always dueled every opportunity they were given ever since Sirius got a wand when he was eight. Lucius was in his fourth year by the time Sirius got his wand, so it was unfairly matched.
"As soon as we get to Trixy's, I am going to jinx him so badly that he will never even look in your general direction again," I spoke scowling at the thought of Lucius.
"Lex...just make sure you don't do it in front of too many people, and make sure you use your wand this time. Remember what Mother said. This is probably the only time Mother has ever been and will ever be right about something. You can't let too many people know how powerful your magic is yet. We don't want you to be recruited, so be careful." Sirius spoke solemnly, reminding me once again that going to Hogwarts will not always be as fun as it had sounded when I was younger.
When I was younger, an exceptionally dark wizard cast a curse upon me. I was given extraordinary magic, but if shown to the wizarding world before it is ready, my magic will be used for evil. My magic could potentially consume me if used with dark intentions for too long, and if that happens, I will forever be malevolent and easily take over the world with a flick of my wrist. If I use too much magic at once, it causes me a baffling amount of pain.
When I was nine years old, there was an incident. A wizard had broken into our home when only Siri and I were home. I had been sleeping when the wizard came, but Sirius had been awake. Sirius, of course, tried to defend himself against the man. Unfortunately, he had only had his wand for about six months, so the older and more experienced wizard won.
That night, I woke up to Sirius' screaming. I rushed down into the kitchen only to find a malicious looking wizard attacking Sirius with the Cruciatus Curse.
Without thinking, I sprung to immediate action. With no wand in hand, I started attacking him brutally.
However, this particular wizard had long ago mastered the art of dueling. After he sent a few throbbing-injury inflicting curses my way, I was enraged that he dare hurt my brother, so I exerted my entire being into defeating this skilled wizard.
I had sent one last powerful spell towards this malefic wizard before I passed out.
I was put into a magical coma for nine months because I would not have been able to survive the pain my body was going through.
Sirius had to stay in St. Mungo's for two months, and then continue physical therapy for seven months.
My mother and father were extremely proud of me, but they were petrified when the healers at St. Mungo's told them the extent of my internal and external damage.
"Lex?" Sirius' voice broke through my troublesome thoughts. "I know your thinking about it, stop. You will be fine, I'll stay near you the entire time."
"Thanks, Siri," I spoke timidly leaning in to embrace him, careful of his injury.
The doorknob jiggled furiously making us jump apart in shock, we had completely forgotten that the rest of the family was waiting on us.
"Children, why is this door locked?" A gruff voice broke out, before blasting the door open.
"Sorry, Father." Simultaneously, Sirius and I responded.
"Is that what all the fuss is about? That minuscule cut on your side? Sirius, what have your mother and I told you about dueling with Lucius? I'll teach some more curses after the birthday party, you have to beat Lucius next time. Abraxus is becoming unbearable to talk to," Our father said as he healed Sirius' wound.
Sirius merely nodded in thanks, slightly miffed that he still had to go to Narcissa's birthday party even though he had been injured.
"Now that that's settled, let's head off. Do not let Lucius defeat you when you happen to duel again. Evelyn, look out for your brother today. The Lestranges are supposed to be there today, so make sure you are on your best behavior. Bellatrix will be among them, but I doubt she'll have time to chat. When your mother was nineteen, she was already pregnant with you." Our father said disappointedly, he had hoped that having been married for two years, Bellatrix would have had children already.
"Yes, Father."
Grabbing both of our hands, he apparated us to Malfoy Manor where Narcissa would be having her party because she is arranged to be married to Lucius. Although, she has no objections to this marriage whatsoever because, prior to the arrangement, she and Lucius had been dating in secret.
Many witches and wizards began apparating around us, and heading in flocks towards the front gates.
The gloomy environment of Malfoy Manor always seemed to try to worsen the livelihood of all who visited it. Preposterously, the grande manor loved to make magical folk and magical creatures alike suffer at any given chance.
Sirius and I exchanged a glance before obtaining a neutralized expression, and entered the palace of doom.
