Chapter 6
How to make a Christmas Ball based on a Hedwig

image

We love crafting homemade ornaments and couldn’t miss representing Harry Potter on our tree. This DIY Harry Potter Hedwig Christmas Ornament is one the kids will enjoy helping with. With a few simple supplies you can add Hedwig to your tree and maybe he will fly the kids’ letters to Santa, or Hogwarts.

Utensils:
- Glass Ball Ornaments
- White Feathers
- Yellow Paint Pen
- Black Paint Pen
- Hot Glue and Glue Gun

Directions:
First, remove the top part of your ball ornament – the silver hanger cap. The fill the ball with your white craft feathers. No need to add very many, you want to keep them fluffy inside instead of packed tight. Leave out a couple of extra feathers to add on the outside of your ball ornament. Add a few dabs of hot glue and stick the feather against each side to represent wings. Even if you aren’t an artist, making Hedwig’s face is very easy! Draw the face in the ball in the way you like: you should add two big eyes, a beak, three claws at each side and a seriously-looking face! Use a yellow or gold paint pen to add color to the eyes. This brings out the owl look. After you have the base done, add little squiggly lines to the front for feathers and dots around the eyes. Once you are satisfied with how your Hedwig Christmas Ornament looks, add the hanger top back in place. Now your DIY Harry Potter ornament is ready to be added to the tree!
