Chapter 2
My feet nervously tapped the floor of the great hall as I waited for my name to be called.
“Lagoon, Mina!”
“Montro, Hannah!”
“Minn, Aaron!”
Finally, after what seemed like forever, Professor Wessex called, “Prings, Hope!”
I slowly made my way over to the sorting stool and sat down. She placed the hat on my head and I closed my eyes, trying not to think about what house I will be sorted into.
Suddenly, “Hufflepuff!” the hat roared.
I jumped out of the chair almost forgetting to remove the hat from my head. After returning it onto the stool, I skipped over to the Hufflepuff table. They all greeted me with smiles and nods, and another first year named Amy scootched over and pointed to the space she made. I sat down next to her and turned my head back up, watching the other kids be sorted.
At the end of sorting, and at the end of the feast, me and Amy walked up to Hufflepuff common room like old friends. I knew this was going to be a good year.
