I’d like to continue on with my tour around Britain with a different county. I’d like to continue with Devon, Charlie's Birth place. Many of you will know that Devon is a large county in the south west of England. An interesting fact is that is sometimes called Devonshire. But this is mainly because of the tradition of the counties in England being called “shires”.

Neither I nor my Snape-Riddle family have ever lived in Devon but the Weasleys, Lovegoods, Diggorys and Scamanders, Flamels and Fawcetts have all lived there and it houses some important wizarding communities such as Ottery St Catchpole. And it is also where Shuntbumps, a now defunct broomstick sport, once rose to popularity.

I love Devon. Having been brought up in the gloom of Cokeworth, hidden away and then spending most of my time at Hogwarts getting to go to the Burrow and to Devon always seemed such an amazing pleasure. With the whole Weasley family I am still taken in but its rolling hills and splendour every time we go.

There are 2 coasts. The Bristol Channel to the north and the English Channel to the south. Throughout the countryside there are rolling hills and valleys of Exmoor. And this is what I love about the whole country-side of Devon. The Ponies, the bracken, the quite solitude. From being in the center of London it was a welcome change. And going to the people that I loved was always amazing.

When I think about it, we haven’t been back in what feels like so long. We will be back soon when we are out of our gloom.
