~Olivia's pov.~
I wake up and listen carefully. No one is talking...time to get up then. Go open my door and walk downstairs. I hear the sizzling of bacon and the pop of the toaster. I walk in and both of my parents stop what they're doing and look at me. My dad has a beet bottle in front of him and he looks mad at me. "Where did you go last night!!??" He demands at me and my mother just stays quiet. "What do you mean?? I was in my room reading."
He gets up with his bottle loose in his hand. He storms over to me and gets right in my face. "I looked in there last night and you weren't there. So I'll ask you again where were you??" His breath smells like beer, gross. "Like I told you I was in my room." His face goes red and he raises his hand. My mom rushes forward and yanks his hand back. "Don't lie to me!! I know your lying!!" My dad shouts at me trying to shake off my mom.
"You aren't hitting my daughter!!" My mother yells at my dad. Oh no...Dad gets my mother off him and throws his beer bottle at her. "WHAT KIND OF WIFE ARE YOU!!??" My dad yells as the beer bottle smashes against the wall next to my mom. I push him away from mom before he can do anything else. He looks at me angrily and throws me against the corner of the wall. I slip down and he throws another beer bottle and this time it hits me right in the arm. "AHH!!" I scream at the top of my lungs. I feel the glass cutting through my skin and some hit my right eye so I can't see straight.
I scream in agony till my dad storms up to his room. My mom comes over and gets 911 on the phone. "Hold on, honey. The ambulance is coming. Hold on." I try so hard but I can't see straight and my arm is on fire. My mom grabs a towel and wraps it around my arm. The blood soaks it through it. Then we hear the ambulance and by that time my right eye is completely blind. They rush inside and put me on a stretcher. My mom and them rush out to the ambulance. I take one last look at Dylan who is on his lawn watching all this. He yells something but I can't hear it over the sirens. Then close the doors behind us and mom grabs my hand as look at my arm and put some meds in me. I start to get sleepy and so I sleep.
~Time skip to 5 pm.~
I wake up but I can only see out of one eye. "Mom??" I croak and then see my arm has a lot of bandages. Great. I heart my heart monitor and the beeping of other things. I see my mother asleep in the chair next to my bed. "Mom!!" I yell this time and she jolts up like she got electrocuted. Then her eyes focus on me and she rushes over and grabs my hand. "Yes, Olivia. Do you need anything?? Meds?? Water?? Food?? The nurse?? The doctor??" "No, mom I'm good. I'm just...in pain." Right as I say that my nurse comes in and checks my charts.
"Well, dear you seem to be doing steady. Now can you tell how this happened?? Your mom hasn't said a word about it." The nurse eyes my mother and she looks pale. I take a deep breath and squeeze my mom's hand. "I fell outside and we have an outdoor art studio. Which has glass all around it. I fell into that. My dad was at work and my mom was home." I lie to her because I don't want to tell this stranger about my family. The nurse eyes me for e second then writes the story down. "Ok. You can't see out of your right eye again because the glass ruined it. I'm sorry. Your arm will heal but will have some scars because of the stitches. I say you're very lucky." She leaves with what she brought.
My mom starts crying on me. "I'm so sorry this happened, Olivia. I promise I'll get the police involved next time. I promise that he will be gone soon." I just lay there and look at her through my left eye. "Mom, it's not your fault. I should've just told the nurse the real story. But I was scared. We know what dad is capable of..." She nods and brushes my hair out of my face. "Go to sleep, Olivia. You need rest." I let the meds work and soon fall asleep.
