A dishwasher, some Hot Coco, and a reason not to say anything

Chapter 3
The boys arrived home, got their snow stuff off and headed straight to the kitchen.
“Kevin, why didn’t you tell me Carry was coming over,” Kevin’s mom said, “and you didn’t empty the dishwasher before you went outside,”
“I will later, could Carry and I have some hot chocolate?” Kevin asked.
“How about after you empty the dishwasher,” His mom replied.
“Fine,” Kevin went to empty the dishwasher. “Stupid dishwasher.”
“So Carry, how is your mom?” Kevin’s mom asked.
“She’s doing fine, Mrs. Decro, she just finished knitting a scarf that she’s been working on for a while,” Carry said, sitting down across from Kevin’s mom.
“Well I’m glad to hear it,” Mrs. Decro said.
Kevin had finished with the dishwasher and sat down next to Carry. “I finished with the dishwasher, can we have hot chocolate now?!” he said.
“Sure, honey,” Mrs. Decro got up and made them some hot chocolate. Mrs. Decor was a nice lady. Kevin’s dad, Mr. Decro came down the stairs and into the kitchen. Mr. Decor was a tall man, with blonde hair and a charming smile.
“Hi dad!” Kevin said, jumping out of his seat to hug his beloved father.
“Hiya son,” Mr. Decro gave Kevin a bear hug, which nearly choked Kevin. Mr. Decor went over and kissed his wife on the cheek.
“Hey, honey,” Mrs. Decro said.
“Whatcha making?” Mr. Decro said.
“Hot chocolate, you want some?”
“Yes please!” Mr. Decor kissed his wife again.
Carry looked longingly at the happy couple, as he wished still had happy parents and a father. His parents divorced when he was 8 and he rarely saw his dad at all.
“You dad’s awesome,” He said.
“Right!” Kevin said, sitting back down. Carry looked longingly at the table.
“Ok, here we are,” Mrs. Decro said, setting down 2 cups of hot chocolate, with 4 big marshmallows already in them. Both of the boys' faces lit up, and the hot chocolate was gone within minutes.
“That was delicious, Mrs. Decro!” Carry exclaimed.
“Oh, thank you, honey!” Mrs. Decro said. Mr. Decro walked over and sat down at the table, and opened the newspaper.
“Have you heard about Lucy?” He said.
“No, what happened?” Mrs. Decro said with a worried tone. She stopped what she was doing.
“She went missing,” Kevin said.
“How do you know that?” Mr. Decro asked.
“We bumped into Mrs. Foster when we were coming back from sledding,” Carry said.
“That’s awful, I do hope they find her, such a lovely little girl,” Mrs. Decro walked over and got the empty mugs off the table. Kevin motioned for Carry to follow him. “C’mon, we need to talk,”
Carry got up from the table, followed Kevin up the stairs and into his room.
“Yeah, what did ya wanna talk about?” He asked.
“I think the boot and the hand we found was at one point a part of Lucy,” Kevin said, moving a pile of dirty clothes into a deep corner of his room. “I agree,” Carry said, sitting down on Kevin’s bed. “What should we do about it?”
“Nothing,”
“I said this once and I’ll say it again, WHY SHOULD WE DO NOTHING,” Carry exclaimed. He was shushed by Kevin. “My parents shouldn’t know the truth just yet.”
“And why should that be?” Carry asked, crossing his arms in disapproval.
“They won’t believe us, they’ll think we’re crazy,” Kevin said, sitting down next to Carry.
“That is true, but I do think we should tell someone,”
“Why can’t this be our little secret?”
“Heh, fine,” Carry said.
The boys continued to talk for a while, but got bored and started to play video games. Soon, the sun went to sleep, and the moon woke up. Kevin noticed that Carry had fallen asleep. Kevin got a blanket from his bed and draped over Carry. He then walked down the stairs, trying not to smile. No one was going to know.
