Chapter 2

This is just a quick introduction of supplies you will need to have with you regardless of the breed of dragon.

Wand:

This seems like a rather obvious piece of equipment, but there are a surprising amount of Witches and Wizards who think they won’t need a wand since most spells will not affect a dragon. Here we must stress that most spells will not affect the dragon, but there are a few that a smart witch or wizard might employ in times of need. Due to the need to protect these dragons, the names of these spells will not be revealed anywhere inside of this book.

Scentremoving Bodywash:

It does not matter whether this is a muggle brand or a wizard brand. Various breeds will allow you close only if you do not smell of any other dragons. Due to the nature of studying more than one dragon, washing after each encounter with this soap will open more dens than even imaginable. Also: spells that are intended for the same use will not be a useful for most dragons can sense when you have a spell hiding your scent. This will cause the dragon to grow suspicious.

Various First Aid potions and kits:

One might assume that the injuries received from dragons would be rather simple and repetitive. This is not so. As we find more dragons and run into dragons of various states of growth the injuries can be surprising and unique. A young Persian Amberfin can breathe out a gas that if inhaled will cause your lungs to freeze in a few minutes. This is why it is best be prepared at all times. Make sure to bring first aid potions and salves that can be used even if a wand is not able.

A Partner:

You should never attempt to study dragons in their natural environment alone. As mentioned in the above section, there are a variety of injuries one could suffer that you would be unable to heal yourself from. A partner is great for this. A partner is also great because they may spot various details about the dragons you are studying that you would never have thought to note. It is necessary that this person be someone you can get along with and trust as most outings into the field can last months.

There are a variety of other items to have with you when studying the different dragons. Each of these individualized items will be mentioned in each chapter. Please never assume that you know best and refuse to take any or all of the mentioned supplies. It will result in your death and a negative view of dragons once again. We study these beasts to remove the false beliefs that have piled up against them over the years.
