The connection with Merula
Chapter 1
I would say that I have to think hard, and that I never really knew her, and there is a small amount of truth to this. I don’t think anyone really knew Merula Snyde. But the truth is I did know her. I knew her because She, like me, had witnessed the death of her parents. She saw them both die and I only saw one die but it still meant that we could both see Thestrals.
When she started Hogwarts, she was sorted into Slytherin. I never knew much about her before school or at school but I knew that her parents had been pure-blood Slytherins, had been sent to Azkaban and had been followers of Voldemort. I didn’t want to tell her about my dealings but what I knew about her and her family made be want to be around her even less.
I remember that she had this strange orange tint to her dark hair and that, as with most Slytherins she would be in
the dungeons on many occasions. She had a few friends and called herself the most powerful witch. It was probably true as well. She was always getting fairly good grades and if I’m not mistaken managed several
Outstandings in her exams.
My Uncle was certainly praised her as she was on his good list. I get the feeling that the Weasleys also enjoyed her company, although I don’t know I should act around that sort of information.
As she got older and the Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort came back to power I know for a fact that Merula was one of those that caught up in the whole thing. I don’t know if this was because she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her parents or because she was scared but I know that it happened.
I know because she saw me with him once and her face was a picture. I’m not sure if she knew that he was my biological father, I’m not sure she had even realised that Professor Snape had been my Uncle but the look in her eyes was one of shock and dismay. A Gryffindor with Death Eaters?
I don't really know what happened to her but she must have gone on to a high powered job because she had the smarts to do it. I suppose whether she could be bothered is more the question. If you know let me know. I'd love to find out. Owl me is best.
