Chapter 2
In the books, Slytherin was unfortunately portrayed as the "evil" House. This is WRONG. Slytherins were constantly described as mean (e.g. Pansy, Draco, Snape), unsmart (e.g. Flint, Crabbe, Goyle), and evil (e.g. Voldemort, Bellatrix, Umbridge). Plus, the other Houses had hardly any antagonists. The only ones I can rattle off are: Wormtail, Quirrell, Lockhart, Zacharias Smith, and Cedric Diggory (in an alternate timeline). J.K. Rowling should have included more characters that are evil from other Houses. It must be a little hard for Slytherins to feel proud of members of their House, since most of them were on the Dark Side. If it's any comfort, Merlin was a Slytherin!

This caused the stereotypical Slytherin to be formed, which is practically the exact opposite of how they really are. Several smart, and good Slytherins are Professor Slughorn, Draco (in the end), Narcissa Malfoy, Albus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, Leta Lestrange, and Severus Snape. Another reasons that Slytherins are considered "bad" is that their animal is the Serpent, which is also (wrongly) stereotyped as evil.

I'm a Ravenclaw, but I feel very sympathetic and outraged at Slytherin's plight. I have met several very nice Slytherins in real life. They were never mean. In fact, they make very good conversations with.

Hopefully Slytherins will start being appreciated for who they truly are, and the stereotype of "evil Slytherins" will cease to exist. Already progress has been made, but there is still work to be done. Slytherins, I feel, are also underappreciated. So,

YAY FOR SLYTHERIN!
