On this day, students of the 6th and 7th years train and pass their apparition tests. Apparition is, by definition the transfer of a witch or wizard from one location to another. Many people have to take this test several times as the rules are fairly strict.

I passed on my first time which was a relief to my uncle as I don’t think he would have been pleased with me taking it a second time. Neither would my father for that matter. It would have been considered, inappropriate, shameful even. This is mad considering my husband had to retake his test and some of the best magical minds of our time have had to do the same.

You also need to pay, quite a substantial amount I might add. This is not only for the lessons but also for the final test. People think of my family as poor, well the Snapes are. But the Woodland Elves are not in need of Money, my father’s family were well off and I inherited everything from them. I would rather live in adequate means rather than have everything I desired. It fills you with a strong sense of justice. That is just my view.

There is also side along apparition. Which is someone else taking you with them. This is what children do until they pass their test. Apparition is a strange feeling and can be rather daunting at times as there is a risk of splinching. but more about that later.
