Pure Blood - Families Part #1
Chapter 8
Hello everyone!
In this series of articles, we are going to learn about the Twenty-eight Pure-Blood families. Today the families are the Abbot, Gaunt, and Lestrange families.
Abbott
Many an Abbott is sorted into Hufflepuff. It is said that Giffard Abbott was a very close friend of Godric Gryffindor and they were neighbors when Godric's Hollow was originally founded. At least one member of the Abbott family can be found living in Godric's Hollow to this day. Many an Abbott has taken a Mayoral position, therefore having the responsibility of keeping the veil between the Wizards and Muggles that share the village as opaque as possible.

Gaunt
The Gaunts are an ancient, in-bred, Pure-Blood Wizarding family, direct descendants of Salazar Slytherin. The family is listed in the infamous Pure-Blood Directory from the 1930s as being one of the “Sacred Twenty-eight” families who stayed true to their pure-blood status. The Gaunts lived just outside of Little Hangleton, a small village in northern England. They were very wealthy and prominent once, having descended from many powerful witches and wizards, most notably Salazar Slytherin and Cadmus Peverell.

Lestrange
A very old pure-blood line, the Lestrange Family is one of the Sacred Twenty-eight. They have a shady history, stained with supposed practice of the Dark Arts. Many Lestranges are considered "touched", as the family has a reputation for producing mental instability more often than other family lines. They are related to the Black, Malfoy, Tonks, Lupin, and Rosier families. Bellatrix Black married into the family only because it was expected of her to make a respectable pure-blood marriage.
