House-elf Magic

Chapter 4
When people think of house-elves, most, or at least some, automatically think of their connection to wizard kind. So, I wanted to discuss house-elves outside of their bond to wizards and witches.

House-elves speak in English, as far as my knowledge goes, but I presume that this changes according to their origin or where they currently reside. They are generally two to three feet in height and have high-pitched voices and pointed ears. They are also known to have rather large eyes and an unproportionable head-to-body ratio.

Though all this is interesting, what I actually want to discuss is house-elf magic. House-elves actually have their own type, or brand, of magic. It is different from that of wizards and witches, yet very similar. House-elves can apparate at will, like the rest of the magical community. However, they do not seem to need to have any particular practice to be able to do this. This is unlike wizards and witches, who learn apparation during their school years. House-elves seem to be very skilled at advanced magic, more so than us witches and wizards. So are there any limits at all?

Yes there are. These limits lie within the lack of permission for wand usage and their “bond” to witches and wizards. This isn’t actually much of a limitation, seeing that house-elves can do much more advanced magic than us, even without a wand. However, with a wand, house-elves could perform MUCH more advanced magic than they already do. Their “bond” to witches and wizards also prevents them from using their magic at their own free will. They are enslaved, and therefore are not allowed the freedom to use their magic freely.

I believe that house-elf slavery needs to stop. It’s beyond unjust and cruel, and frankly, it’s very disappointing to think that this hasn’t been stopped yet. So let’s make a difference.
